ok, i am still creating these PDFs. ive tried Freehand 10 and Illustrator 10. The creating itself works very well, but then when i have the pdf and i want to print it out, ive got these problems:

when i print with default settings, all the content on the page gets scaled and the white border gets bigger!

when i uncheck the "fit to page" in the acrobat printing settings, it does not get scaled, but some graphics close to the border get cut off.

im pretty sure, this is not a printer problem, cause, ive about 1,5cm whitespace around my content on the page and my printer should take that easily!

That is weird, your are printing from acrobat reader correct.

If acrobat reader say's it the correction size, located at the bottom of the document, and it displays properly in reader. Then it almost has to be the printers margin there realy is not anything else involved other then printer drivers.

I doubt you are exceding the pdf page limit of 45"X45"

The only other thing I can think of would involve postscript printers and a incorrect .ppd (printer discription file) is incorrect.

I guess the best thing is to create the simplest page possiable, a box that is the same size as your drawing and try printing it to see if it is document related, printer set-up, or the margins.

45" means forty-five inches -- over a meter.

I just had another idea, I was just bringing a a logo into pagemaker and received a similar error. My logo was cut off about 1/8 - 1/16 of an inch. It seem that the bounding box definded for the elements in illustrator sometimes is not calulated correctly. I did get illustrator to set the bounds correctly by repeated saves as well, so it seem to be releated to how the file is written. I may have to do with lines extending farther out then point throwing off the calulation of the bounding box.

I just solved my problem by placeing a transparent, no stroke box around the content and sending it all the way to the back, forceing illustrator to increase the size of the bounding box. I have always done this for eps file I intend to bring into photoshop via "Place" as photoshop always cuts off the very edge of any logo I try to bring in.

ive now updated to acrobat 5. but still the same problem. also with simple text-pdfs, where the text is far away from the border.
acrobat 5 previews me the page with a scale factor of 94,1%.

just found the problem: in the printer settings the paper size was set to letter, though it is A4!
ive changed that and now it prints correctly!
