Topic: POW Week 20 - Fire (Page 1 of 1)

Fire can be unique ... be it painted, drawn or something burning ... lets see what you can do.

A few guidelines:
1. Photo needs to go along with the subject in some way.
2. Use thumbnails for photos with any dimension larger than 450 px or over 40 kb.
3. Post as many as you want.
4. At the end of the week the person who chose the topic will pick someone to choose the next topic. This isn't a "winner," just someone who gets to suggest the next topic.
5. No critiques (unless requested) this is just to share our photos.
6. No sigs.

What was that burning, Flea? It looks serious.

Up to just 2 weeks ago, I didn't haven much by way of fire. But I decided to take my camera to a beach party and they had a very nice fire going





It seemed a little strange using a flash for a picture of a fire on the first one but I like the way the flames still show up and you get the white and gray of the ash too.

I played around with a longer shutter speed on the other two.

it was an abandoned house in a far rural area ... siloute in the photo is a volunteer firefighter ... there was a group of them that had to stand there and watch the place burn down because of no water left ...

yeah with fire you can get some interesting pics .. either with flash to show detail of what is burning and the smoke .. or no flash .. and longer shutter speed .. to get the flames dancing ... i have some more i will post throughout the week of other fire shots i have ... heh guess you could say it is the one thing that is most destructive that i have to photograph but it can make some of the nicest photos at the same time.

Nikon D1 , 24-80 f 3.8 nikkor , 80-200 f2.8

hehe .. cats don't burn well ... in my experience the wife normally puts the fire out before any good shots can be taken.

here is a few others i took the other night, kinda slow right now on fires...

so far there has been several nice ones posted ... fire is a subject that i guess is hard to photograph at times ..

hmmmm well it is a toss up between Bugimus and cyoung

think i am going to go with cyoung tho .. will be interesting to see what topic is used .. since that photo could have many different meanings...
