Here is the first image (courtesy of bizark.com): http://www.bizark.com/tempcontent/objects/stopsign.jpg

And here is the image which I worked on using that: http://users3.50megs.com/hrdware101/temp/Stop_it.jpg

Comments and critisism (none of that "you suck" bs though) greatly appreciated.

thanks all.

YOU SUCK, no wait 50 Megs does. Like Angelfire, they wont let you link images. I dont really get the point in that. I guess I could see they dont want the space wasted for warez or whatever but there hasta be a way of linking an image and not a program or something. Oh well.

i've seen better, but i've also seen worse...

i'm curious as to what the image you created was used for? it is somewhat interesting and asthetically pleasing.

on the other hand, i personally would have cropped out the trucks in the bottom left corner. i feel they pull a viewer away from the main subject of the image, transferring their focus to an unimportant tangent.

anyways...

Hmmmmmmmmmm...
not sure how i feel about that. the stop sign itself is, well, interesting...and the photomanip'd version is...well, interesting...the text overlay is...well, interesting...but I see stop signs all the time, in sunshine and in winter...

I suppose what I'm saying is commonplace things don't really make for good still-lifes in computer graphics, especially in photo-manips. It's really easy to do photomanips of something geometically shaped (ie, an octagon) but more difficult with, say, a face or a tree...So, with the stop sign, it's just...interesting. But I wouldn't buy a poster of it. Past that, I'd change the color of the text in the corner, it's almost completely 100% illegible.

well, there's not much photomaip going on there. I was just trying to do some stuff, it wasn't made for any one/thing ...
as you may or may not have noticed, I made my image clearer and darker as well.
Also, the removing of trucks is a good idea, and im not sure what text you are talking about ...

I mean its nice, but like twItch^ said, its really easy to do. Someone said the red text is 100% illegible, which it is. Im assuming it says now? Maybe not though. The question mark is nice. Is that a font or did you make that yourself? I wouldnt crop out the trucks, rather I would blur everything but the stop sign a little bit. That would take the focus off of those things, unless of course you want the focus on everything.

Just my $0.02 thought. Its a cool image I guess...

I'll be frank with you...like the other guys said, it's a "quickie." I'm having trouble understanding the purpose of it...

god ... does EVERYTHING have to have a purpose? whether you realize it or not, i am still categorized as a "newbie", and am just experimenting. that was my first attempt at an image incorparating everything i did, and alot of the things I did in it I was doing for the first time.

jestah: the blur thing is a good idea ... I'll try it and post it again.

mbridge: if its a "quickie", how so? Please photomanip an image like that if it doesnt take that much time to make.

I really don't want to be an ass, but I could recreate that image in less than 60 seconds...there's nothing to it.
Mosaic in the sky, some red scan lines, some text, and a desaturation on the right.

um, hypershrimp: ok, you're a newbie. But it's a picture of a stop sign with some stuff thrown on it real quick-like. don't get so damn defensive...you asked for people's comments and opinions and now you're getting them. People will be honest, and these responses have been fairly polite....so chill

Really? If you don't mind my brashness, what was the message?

I really don't mean to be mean--honestly. What you've done is a wonderful start for something. But it's, like noted, 88 seconds worth of work. We're trying to give you a little insight into what it *could* be and you've given us the cold shoulder. We should be the ones putting the next to our messages, not you. Who are you dealing with here? You've gotten free advice from professionals in the field, and you're getting irritable.

Show some gratitude.

well of course hype, but what exactly is the final product/message here?? I think that's the whole point people are trying to make.

hrm...

i think a few people around this place are having trouble keeping their egos in check.. they need to spend more time working on their own (lack of) skills, rather than picking on a newbie who is a little frusturated that he didn't get praise on his early work.

and i think hypershrimp does deserve a little credit for what he did. it IS a good start and maybe he didn't realize there was an easier way to do it, but he still did it and made a decent product.

I gave him credit; I just am checking him on the work, as it were. I gave my opinion, for whatever that is worth, and he has rescinded it without so much as a thank you for the time.

Sure, I could've posed it more diplomatically, but who cares? Truth is almost always favorable to the buffer truth we're often handed by the media.

I have to agree with mikey. using "The Truth" as an excuse is not really valid. Heh next time your girlfriend asks you "Do I look fat in these pants?" and you say "yes", coming back with

"Truth is almost always favorable to the buffer truth we're often handed by the media."

Is going to have you sleeping on the couch.

Besides which length of time or difficulty has no bearing on the value of art. Hell Jackson Pollack splattered paint on a canvas, a fucking monkey could have done it but he is considered one of the new masters.

Hypershrimp, it's not a bad piece but it is not very complex and I think with some time and practice you'll find works like this much easier ad as you do you'll find your work getting a lot better.

Sorry guys! I ususally get defensive on these things. When I said it had no purpose, I meant it wasn't to be used for an ad or website. And I guess it doesn't have a real meaning ...
Anyways, sorry for being a jerk, and I hope I can get the same kind of comments (which is better than no commments) the next time I post something I made.

Oh ya, lol, I also blurred everything on the left side except the Stop Sign, so if you wanna see it, http://users3.50megs.com/hrdware101/temp
