Preserved Topic: Final Fantasy VII (Page 1 of 1)

Alright, this is pretty much the first video game I've ever bought just so you know how little I know about computer video games. My girlfriend choose VII over VIII because the box was cooler, just to let you know exactly how much i know about video games...

Heres my problem. I started to install the game on my downstairs computer. The first time I ran the instal I got an error, the second time I got an error, third time I got to the black screen and then it froze. Finally I got to the graphics and installed the lastest version of those two programs. I clicked instal and it froze. Since then occationally I get up to the install screen but usually I dont get that far. The CD's in perfect condition and it works fine on my laptop. I would use it on my laptop but you need either a joystick or the num pad and I dont have either. I have the num pad but its with the lil 'Fn' button and that gets too difficult.

Does anyone have any ideas on why it wouldnt be working on my Compaq? Id very much appreciate any speedy answers.

Geez... Im not to familliar with the requirments, and faults with that game. I installed the demo version of 8 on my computer a few months back.. It didn't run well for me either. I think you should make sure you have the newest version of your drivers for your sound, and video card (it's a pretty graphically exstencive game). Free up 3 times as much hard drive space as it says it needs. If that doesn't work, contact Eidos' technical support (I belive they produced the game, if not, contact the company that did.. or still try Eidos, you may get a funny reply <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Other then that, I dunno <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/frown.gif">

Thanks Dan, I dont think thats right because I never actually get to install the program. A lot of people have said that to me so far though. Im gonna post the mesage I get when it stops responding. Maybe someone can help with that ...

Whoa weirdness. I tried to run it again to get the error message for you guys and all of a suddne it started working ... at least I thought. I got so far into the install and I got this message:

An erroer occurred durring the move data proces:-117

I dont know what that means but i figured maybe if it worked that time it will work next time so I ran it and I got the error message:

An internal read error has occurred on D:\SETUP.INS. Unable to load installation instructions. Error 703

Figured the three hundreths times the charm so did ran the install again and got
Error displaying couders.bmp

I also got a few more errors on displaying images but that one i got the most...

Finally I did it again and I got the same error as the first. Im really in the mood to play this game and I cant find Eidos' number. I have the website url and the address but that does me little good. Someone HELP!

Thats a great game too, dont buy 8, it was a real waste of money. Just not a very fun game. 7 wasa total blast, everything rocks, has alot of good music. Is go get the playstation version though. PS to PC are never any good.

I got that error while trying to install Quake3Arena on this computer <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

My problem was a shitty CD drive... didn't work <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Dunno about you. Try it on a friends comp.

That was the problem Dan lol. I put it in my other drive which is newer and faster and it works fine. Game looks pretty good so far. Anyway I feel like a jerk and I feel bad for kicking my machine so many times <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/frown.gif"> I hope it still loves me.

Walking the Earth like Kane

Ive been going out with her a few months now, Im not whipped its just when school starts we never get to see each other because we both do so many things and play different sports. Either way I spend a lot of money on her but she spends a lot of money on me too. Besides its my parents money so whats the difference right?
