Do you rough out the hole page in photoshop first and slice it up afterwards, or do you start directly in dreamweaver, notepad or whatever app you use and only make the images you need in photoshop? |

hey Einardo, i always do a rough draft on paper first. i would just run around in circles in photoshop if i didnt. then i will move to photoshop and create all of the graphical content. then cut the image up in imageready. and last but not least to trusty notepad and code away... |

uh, i personally always carry a big sketch book and chemical x [see: marijuana (n.)] around in my courier bag. i'm always drawing out designs, then turning to the computer to implement them by creating graphics in photoshop and doing coding in notepad. |

I guess Im a little different in the way I design. I rarely sketch out a design on paper. Sometimes I might sketchout certain things before I create them in photoshop but thats only occationally. Usually when inspiration hits me I open up notebad and start coding. Then I think of what type of graphics I want and make them. Now I finish editing in Dreamweaver, but Ive only been using that app for about a month or so. |

it's the craziest thing...I turn on my computer, black out for a few hours, then something is done. |

I start with rough layout ideas in Photoshop (I dont pen and ink anything anymore), and then build my whole layout in PS, keeping in mind where content will go, and how the tables will be cut up. then I just drag my guides, export all my cutup images, open up Editpad http://www.jgsoft.com/ , and code the rough HTML. Then I'll check quickly to see how the rough HTML looks in both browsers, and if it doesnt seem to hiccup, I'll code the small stuff and be done with it. |

I think the most common way is to mock it up in PS and then cut it up and lay it out in HTML. I don't design at work, we have a seperate design group who does the design in PS and then they hand it off to us in production to get it built. |

I start in Microsoft Image Composer (an old graphics program, discontinued now, but it's meant to have all the features of photoshop and does a pretty good job of it, except for the lighting effects). When I've created something I like, I'll split it up into separate images, and then open a text editor I wrote myself in visual basic to code it. |
