My real name is Hao Deng, High Schooler, Programming and Astronomy Enthusiast, Video Game addict (broodwar especially)
why I come up with this?
I see F1_error everywhere, see slime everywhere, i see DocOzone everywhere, I see mikey everywhere, I see myself everywhere...
alot of you come on very frequently. Then I noticed alot of you are moderators.
And I though alot of you should be young men like me, then I accidentally read a message about that mikey said he did blah blah in the 70's, then I scratched my head and realized he's my elderly.
Mh, let's get to know each other more, so when I ask you for help, I can take it more easily. If you want to know more about me, ask, I have nothing that I can't tell.(except please don't ask me if I am a virgin).
by the way, you all had been helping me so much in these a few days, i feel fucking welcomed! <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif"> especially Doc, thanx for the pulse(), <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif"> (you know what I am talking about).
push my head against the wall if you think this subject is not appropriate in here, I will let you(my mom probably won't though).

well despite the fact i was apparently doing a whole heaping of drugs in the late 70s (thanks mom!), i wasn't actually born until '81.
sheesh and i'm not even a moderator here at the asylum, which is probably a good thing because i wouldn't put up with a lot of stuff that goes on now...
astronomy is pretty interesting, how'd you get into it? i incorporated astronomy number charts and astrological charts into the last series of "fine art" pieces i did towards my bachelor of arts degree... so that must mean i'm in college.
you've been asking a lot of good/fun questions around the forum lately, thanks a lot! it has given me interesting things to ponder and respond to, kind of gets my mind off of a lot of stress i've had lately.
well if you really want to know more about me (shut up guys, i realize i love talking about myself already), the new version of my site should be up in a week or two.. and it'll have way too much information and pictures and stuff, oohhh boy (plus you get to read my online journals where i talk about all sorts of naughty things, tee-hee).
alright, it's bed time.. bah.

I am 26, work in a shitty job, but I am an artist (like, on paper and canvas...not just computers) and I do web design in my spare time (haha). I have a 6 year old daughter and so does my girlfriend which eliminates almost all of that spare time.
I was pretty much the resident asshole here til mikey came along and got pissed at me being an asshole and decided to be an asshole too <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/tongue.gif">

Been working on web design for about 10 months. Photoshop a bit longer than that.
My real focus is on video production. Currently have a job as a "multi-media specialist" which basically means that I do whatever the Communications VP tells me to. video production, marketing, training, small bit of web design and print newsletters, marketing, &tc.
My real interest is international politics and one day plan on running a web based news distribution service.
Degrees in Communication, Political Science and Math.
Married not quite a year, no kids.
Welcome to the Asylum.
Just realized that sounded a lot like a resume. Sorry, didn't really mean it that way.

My wife and kids and I live in Madisn, Indiana. But, I travel a lot.
I have been working with photoshop since version 2.5 ( about 1993 or 94) and have been learning Web Design since 1995.
I have a couple of small clients I have done some web sites for. I am trying to learn more about web design so Ii can move my business in that direction, but, programming takes up most of my time.
I'm afraid if I start talking about my experiences in theatre, physics, the U.S. Navy, house construction, automobile repair, etc. this will start to sound like a resume so I'll stop there.

Anyway lets see I'm Mike Ryan 27 and newly single. I mucked around in college ending up focusing on Audio Production. Then I found out that I would have to pretty much be someones bitch for a few years before I got a decent gig so I decided to get into something else. I've been mucking aound with computers since elementary school where we had a couple of Mac IIe and IIc's bought my first home PC (Commodore 64) when I was 12 with my paper route money and actually minored in computer science (I knew I'd need a back-up)
Anyway about 2 years ago I started doing tech support for EA (video game company who's games I used to hack for my Commodore 64) and then ended up maintaining their tech support web site. Then I got a job offer from @home (cable modem ISP) took that for about 3 months and hated it and started looking for web work. Ended up getting a job as a Production Assistant for the Web Production Group at ZDTV (now techtv) anyway I started last November 1 now through some good breaks, a lot of hard work and a decent head on my shoulders I am the Senior Production Engineer and making 150% of what Iwas making when I started less than a year ago.
Wow time flies.
Personally I am an ex competitive swimmer and Water Polo player. Actually coached high-school water polo forr 4 years.
I play guitar (poorly) but did manage to play in a decent band for a couple of years in college (those were my long hair days) which also had a big part in making my college experience an eight year trip (Something I will never regret. All you kids out there college is the last free time you will have make the most of it)
phew thats enough typing for now

Hey, who was that who was older than me!? GET HIM!!! Yaahhhh.... :-) Heh. I'm 42 last may, where did the time go, and why do all of my friends sem to be 10-20 years younger than me, and still think I must be their age? Must be all of that wasted youth, made me last longer.
Usually in any group of people (except for this one!) I seem to hold the record for the "most careers". Not jobs, real careers, with job security and growth potential, all that jazz. I've been 1) an auctioneer, 2) a mechanic, 3) a salesman, 4) an interior designer, followed closely by 5) a furniture designer, 6) a screen printer, and then I stumbled into 7) this silly "web design" thing, heh. Along the way I had dozens of meaningless side jobs, doing all kinds of squirrely things. Mostly, what I am is an artist, always have been.
When I was in my last year of high school they offered us a choice of some new courses, "electronics" and something called "computer science" (This had to be 1974-75.) I made my art teacher cry, because to take both these new courses I had to drop art classes, they were boh offered at the exact same times! (What kind of lunatic would want to study both of them?) Through the late 70's and into the early 80's I wrote games, first on an old HP200 mainframe, and later for Atari game consoles. This was where I first learned anything about assembly language, which was pretty primitive for the atari, seeing as they never actually released the specs! We took turns running series of digits through the "peek" and "poke" slots, seeing what would happen, and then writing it down to share with each other. That's how we got 256 colors out of the old Atari 800xl's, atari swore they could only do 16, even though their games did more. True story!
After I flunked out of my first year of university (I was a physics major, but I spent the entire year perfecting my program for playing "Reversi" (aka Othello) which I did really well with! Shame I was supposed to be going to Physics classes.) ANYway, I spent a year living on the streets, got my street peddlers licence and sold my pen & ink illustrations out of a booth for food and rent (and other stuff, heh.) Hitchhiked across country, started in Vermont and ended up in San Diego, and then Las Vegas, then after some time back in New Jersey, my home town. Went back to school as an art major, switched to Industrial Design, after which all the work stuff happened. Oh yeah! I worked my way through College as a crew chief on a navy boat yard, build 48' catamarans; motorized, they were. Fast too.
Hmm, spent my *young* youth as a ski bum, and also racing small sailboats, the "Jet 14" was my boat. (14' long, mainsail and a jib *and* a spinnaker. The hull was originally from an "International" and the rigging was from the "Snipe", for those who ar einto such things. A great racing boat, small as a chip, yet with sail enough for a boat twice it's size. Woo!) Actually made it to the junior nationals twice, sailing with my brother.
Hmm, read lots of Science Fiction and Fantasy, collect oriental rugs and antique childrens books, love cats, love camping, but only in truly remote wilderness (deserts or mountains mostly), and really dig these things called computers.
My name is Kevin, BTW. Don't spread it around, cool?

I just want to add 1 more thing, that I really want to put myself into Coding and not designing, I do feel alittle embarrased when showing off my designs, but my codings are pretty elegant. I'll come back with more original brand of HaoDeng. oh, yeah, I am chinese, 've been in usa since 96, started to sleep with computers since 98. my english is not so well (yet), when I came here, I only knew "good morning!", "nice to meet you!", and "how the fuck is it going today" ... and simple words like that. Now I type much better than I speak, because I socialize with the computer more then human.

If any of you want to share your SAT scores with me, please post it, so I I know how to evaluate myself. It's no shame, see, 1040 is low enough, and I still tell you, so you know it's ok. Galaxal, I found it interesting that in your first post you mentioned how you thought everyone was your age... I thought that too when I first came here. Kinda taught me that there's little differences to people of different ages... I was particularly surprised when I found that Phil had a daughter my age!
The forum has been up for about 1/2 a year now, I think. It's one of the newest additions to the site.
Personally, I've been doing web design for almost 2 years now, started my sophomore year in high school, and now i'm looking into colleges. Never owned Photoshop, although I used it for about 30 minutes at one point; Microsoft Image Composer is almost as good! =)
I got into JavaScript about 1 year ago, and am still working on fixing up my DHTML skills (my DHTML rarely works in non-windows OS's).
"Slime" came about from an old video game that I played in 5th grade (its actually been redone for gameboy now, its called Dragon Warrior). It's the weakest enemy in the game; I thought it was neat, started drawing it, made a story line and everything (which i'm the only one who actually *knows* since it hasn't all been written down...) And that's what my web site's based off of now. http://www.karl.nu/slime/

I am not the best artist out there but via this forum and just perusing a bunch of sites I can put together a pretty professional looking site however I do write good code (thats what I do best).
The web is huge and there is no way to master all of it, just find your niche and follow that.

The age discussions always seem to puzzle me.
Back in -94, I was a skibum working as a chef and snowboardinstructor and one night a bunch of us got together for a little drinking-party. (Those of you from Sweden know about our approach to alcohol <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif">.
However, we started discussing age, and even though that we all thought: Well, we're about hte same age, it turned out that the youngest one turned 17 the day after and the oldest one just turned 32. Age (I guess) is just in the mentality (and sometimes in the battered appearance).
I think it's good that we have an age diffrence in here. Adds to the discussion and the span of opinions. If we've just been a bunch of oldschoolers, we'd just keep going on about the good ol' days:
C64. Boulder Dash. ZX Spectrum, Fairlight. Those were the days <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif">

Based in Amsterdam, Holland for most of that time, with 3 yrs in Scandinavia. Recently taken new position for a British based International Transport Company as Operations Manager.
How much of an excuse do I need to climb behind the wheel of a rig....not a lot.... <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">
It?s kinda strange, the web is a great leveller. Everyone assumes everyone else is pretty much the same age...give me a fleet of trucks, and I?m just a little boy playing with his big toys...age is a state of mind, but I?m still older than Doc....hehe

kretsminky,
I'm just 18 and I did Zork...
Been messin' wit' da 'puters since I was old enough to breathe...
(BTW, you had to go around the farm house, find some vines and the wooden planks and build a raft, then you would sail downriver and climb up to the bridge -- and I must've been EIGHT, ok?)
I caught the programming bug when I was little. As soon as my dad showed me how 'Nibbles' and 'Gorilla' were made, my fate was sealed. Unfortunately, the bug I caught centered on QBasic and it kinda screwed up my development. I still have years of dissrepair to make up for...
Shortly after graduating high school I had an arguement with my mom and got kicked out of my house. Staying with a friend and out of resources, my friend kinda made me his apprentice and expanded what little I knew of web designing (my old --and pitiful-- page with angelfire is still up at www.angelfire.com/pe/castle/ , back when my nick was 'Undead' --oooo, scary). I still remember the first day I heard the word 'DHTML' (I thought the guy said 'de HTML' (The HTML)). Anyways, I learned the ropes and struggled to improve. Soon, I was working in the ad agency as his partner.
I came across the Doc's work one day when a friend of mine needed help with the circling balls script. I wet my pants and my jaw dropped to the ground (eewww). I been hooked every since and I'm coming up on my 100th post soon.
However, I'm still not in college and I don't want to be the quintessencial kid who got a job straight out of high school and never went to college, so I sold my soul...
...to the National Guard. They pay for school and then some. Had to cut my hair (still not over that). I ship out sometime before November.
Sorry my bio ain't as long as some of the other people here, but I never had the opportunity to design on the walls of the cave between huntings.
BTW, krets: you remember?
"Want some rye? 'Course ya do!"
hehehehe
(And, yes, I fell into the same trap you all did of thinking everyone but Doc was my age. However, because of the grayscale images on the 'Make Doc drink! Make Doc smoke!' script, I thought Doc looked more like Eric Clapton.)

The name is Andrew Huppatz, 19, After completing school last year I embarked onto University, 2 weeks later I quit. I was doing an Information Technology course but all I wanted was to drink cola, eat candy and design.
For the next six months I embarked on unemployment life, but I chose not to get a job but to sit on the computer watching movies and generally chilling.
3 months ago I embarked on a six month Interactive Multimedia course where I?m learning flash, director and premiere.
What happens next only the road knows.

Whoa! Really enjoyed reading this thread. Great to know that I'm not one of the oldest here.
My name is Steve, I'm 30 years old, working for a large pipe-making company as a production planner. I build web sites on the side.Even though I'm still learning all the time, it helps to get me some extra pocket change. I started with the computer bug when I was about 13 with the ZX Spectrum. Really loved it and wasted about a year of dating girls, stuck in my bedroom messing with the thing. The moved onto the ATARI ST, and then crossed over to the Commodore Amiga. Then the whole work thing arrived so I kind of left home computing alone up until about 4 years ago when I bought myself a PC. Only got onto the net about 3 years ago and started with the whole Photoshop/Web sites about 1 year ago and am hooked.
Like so many other here I do not have enough time as I would like. Got married 4 years ago and had our first child 1 year ago when my free time really took a nose dive.
I get away with spending more time on the PC than I should by telling the wife that at least it's bringing some extra money into the house. It normally gets me a few bonus points if I give some of the cheques straight to her to do with what she pleases (instead of hording it for computer equipment).
Anyway, just realised how much I've rambled on so am going to shut up now and get back to work, I really need to do some planning else the guys on the shop-floor will have nothing to do.

Hey, I have something in common with the Doc, 'cause I collect antique childrens books as well. Though at the moment that hobby is rather dormant as I live in a small town in the south of Sweden where we don?t even have a bookstore for *new* books. I don?t care much for cats though?
The name is Donald, and I am glad to see I am not a decade older than anyone else here, being 27. (my fiancée think that quailfies as ancient, but that?s pretty mean, don?t you think? <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif">
I have quite a lot of educations, but very little of it has to do with the more practical aspects of design. I wrote my master thesis on great tits anddomination behaviours. Then I also got a degree in Book History where I learned quite a lot of the history of graphic design.
I first got on the internet in ?94, I think. And I started making my first webpages shortly after that. But for someone that has been into this for so long I have very little to show for it.
Once I had graduated from the Univ a couple of years ago I realized I had pretty much wasted all those years, since I felt I what I really wanted to do what computer graphics. First I got a job as a graphic person and reporter for a local newpaper, and at present I am working as a printing company where I mostly do web related works (well, I pretty much *am* the internet division of the company) but I also do things like adjusting and retouching picture, and whenever some original graphics needs to be produced I am usually the one to do it.
I am engaged to a wonderful American girl, and somewhere next spring or summer I will make the move to the US and get married. (it?s all up to the INS and their slow buerocrazy)
I tend to be a bit rambly and long-winded at times, which this post probably proves?
Oh, and in case you might not know, the above mentioned great tits are a sort of little bird that live here in Sweden <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/tongue.gif">

Good lord butter this thread got long...real quick, too.
My name is Steve, 20, located in the area of my birthing, being Denver, Colorado. Since this isn't an advertisement for romance, I'll skip the "I like long walks on the beach and romantic candlelit dinners" crap.
The good stuff is that I've been professionally creating web development and graphic design for the better part of 6 years, almost 7. Do the math--that means I've been doing it since I was 13. Why wasn't I out having fun like the rest of the kids in my class? Simple answer, really. When I was 11, I was camping with my father, I went out by myself, and nearly killed myself falling off the side of a cliff. Several of my vertabrae were damaged, some were shattered, and I was unable to walk for quite some time. So, I was left with my computer that I had just been given...and therein starts the epic of twItch.
Graduated high school third in my class and promptly flunked out of two seperate colleges of my own choosing. So, education, it was summerally decided, was not for me. Consequently, I had more time to work and make a name for myself in the design business.
For all this time, I've been contracting myself out for money (and, often, that's enough to pay the bills) but occasionally I've had to take on additional employment to see to it I am fed and have sufficient smokes. I've been a waiter at a five-star restaurant, a sandwich artist, a teacher (believe it!) and a web *programmer*. Currently, I have put my contracting on the side for a company called AMI Visions out here in Denver. I've been given heaps of money and lots of projects to work on. . . So I am completely at ease with myself.
Within the next year, or so, I plan on reinstating my graphic design firm, called graphic minutiae, with a new office downtown and a couple new employees... I even plan on hiring one guy outta this very forum. You know who you are.
Cheers, I'm tired of talking about myself.
