It's a rough of an Iface I want to do. I wanted some insight before doing some final touches on file sizes and doing the area map HTML code.

It looks pretty cool, just be sure that when a link is mouseovered, there is some indication as to where they'll go if they click it. If nothing else, put something in the status bar.

fairly good graphic...

I would possibly make the mouse-overs a little less strong.. more suttle... the way they are for me now is a bit too hard edged.. think softer... mind you... thats only my humble thingy!... the overall look is kinda smooth and gentle but the m/o's reall clash imho

I agree with vog about making the mouse overs a little more subtle and I think its a great graphic. As nice as it looks, I don't see it as a very decent interface. I just don't like interfaces like that its on my my opinion ...

I kept expecting the blade to do something. The handle doesn't look like it would be comfortable to hold in your hand, I know this is just an interface but I would like to see some work done to the shape of the handle. Maybe you could use that big center blue thing do an indication for the links. Just my thoughts.

If you mouse over on the tip of the blade and on the small ball on the handle you get a simple glimmer effect. As for the m/o being a little to sharp, I'll play with it a bit more and see what I can come up with. I had thought about having the link show up on the blade when you mouse over, but I am not sure yet. I'll do some more work and post it up here when it's done. Thanks everyone.!

Regarding the sharp m/o.

I think you got it perfectly at the handle. Subtle and smooth.

If you can mimic that on the vertical axis as well, it's a killer!

I have a great idea for the m/o, but I am not to good with javascript. I want to make it so that when you mouse over a button the button changes and an image changes in the big ball and on the blade at the same time. it uses the idea of a multiple effect m/o, but it is actually done with 6 seperate images instead of the traditional 4. Can this be done in Dreamweaver? If so, how?

Oh, how our WYSIWYG editors restrict us...

I'd say one must learn to hand-code their pages if they want to truly learn things like this. Maybe dreamweaver can do it, but there will be things that dreamweaver can't do. Sigh-ness.

I agree I think you should learn to hand code it if at all possible but it can be done in Dreamweaver. Drop me a line if ya need to find out how, I dont feel like typing it all out and not have ya use it. Sorry, Im lazy

Yikes, I think I gave the wrong impression about my dependence on Dreamweaver. I know HTML quite well. All tags are embedded in my frail mind, but my knowledge og Javascript is still very limited. I am reading up on it, but it's coming slower thatn HTML did. I can do basic m/o, but when I start to add the commands for multiple ones, my Javascript code goes screwy. I think I will keep the iface and work on the code for a while until I can get what I want.

When I tried using the behaviors in DW to cut corners, I found it to be about as usefull as a swift kick to the groin. The only thing I use DW for is a good base to start my code anyway. I always go in and tweak it by hand.
