In case you haven't heard, George Bush (who recently was proven to have lost if the ballots were counted), has appointed we unfortunate Americans a true bastard to the Attorney General seat.

His name is John Ashcroft. What do you all think?

Well I can tell you that I know for a fact that most of the people from Missouri love him. He has been in politics around MO forever and keeps getting relected so they must see something in him.

Why do you say he is a bastard? I mean, besides the fact that you obviously don't like Bush.

I am from Missouri, been here damn near all my life. I think John Ashcroft is a worthless, no-good, slimy, two-faced,lying, manipulative, son-of-a-*****. That was all of the nice things I have to say about him.
Let it not be said that I dislike him because of his conservative agenda.
I can handle anybody--conservative or liberal or nothing at all--as long as they are open and honest about the whole thing. We may disagree, but I can deal with that. John Ashcroft, in his career in Missouri politics has twisted and turned and manipulated every single possible situation to achieve his ultimate goal--reelection. The man speaks of "values." I can tell you after dealing with him for many years, the only values that this man has is his own well-being. He has not shown that he wants to serve the people, he wants to serve himself.

I personally don't know much about Ashcroft. I am from Kansas so don't get much of that news. But I do know that he has been in office quite a while and that *most* of the people I talk to think he is good for Missouri. Otherwise he wouldn't get relected.

I am going to get really tired of hearing all the complaints about Bush and the votes. The system sucks and that is why Bush got elected. Lets not focus on the man, lets change the system to be sure it doesn't happen again. Bush is going to do everything he can to be a good president.

Lets face it, the American president is basically a figure-head. Congress does most of the work with laws etc. The economy goes through Alan Greenspan. The president's main job is to represent the US. From what I have seen Bush is a likeable guy and has a good sense of humor. I think he'll do just fine. If I am still around here in 4 years you can all jump on me if I am wrong.

What can I say...conservatives love him, liberals hate him. He's *going* to be attorney general. The Democrats have been trying to dig up muck for weeks now...he has a pretty clean past. And since the Republicans still hold the majority with Cheney, he will get in. Personally, I'm pretty indifferent toward this sort of stuff as it does not really directly affect me. Either way, at least Ashcroft is brighter than the current lump we call our attorney general.

Oh, Reve- To me, it doesn't seem like its much worse with Bush than with any other president-elect. Everyone always pokes fun at 'em for a few months. Bush seems like a pretty bright guy to me.
