OK! As requested, I've installed a primitive little webring, using a version of GNU licence code that we can putz around with, as desired. I've not done a heckuva lot to customize it, other than forcing it into our own look&feel, and it is *not* directly tied into our user database! I saw problems with automatically putting people into the ring, as it also requires you to have the ring code on your page as well! |

Assuming I would be accepted, I'd be interested in joining the near future; however, my site is current receiving a backend overhaul. Sounds fun! |

The thing of it is, it doesn't need to *look* anything like the example I uploaded for you, the only thing the bot checks for is the links themselves, you can do all sorts of strange things to the look & feel of the ring code. Let's assume that the idea of a ring for this place is not a bad idea, OK? (It's turning into a lot of email back & forth for yours truly, I may get fed up with all the maintainance!) OK, we're back to thinking it's a cool thing, right? Now we should have a competition to see who can make the coolest ring interface! I could set up a couple of variations on the codes you could get auto-generated, using our designs as the basis. Go wild, don't worry about using the exact thing the script generated for you! (I ripped it off from pixelcore mostly, and added some asylum colors, that's about it.) Continue commenting, don't forget to add your links if you join! (The listing is active now, that will be cool when it gets full of sites!) |

Sorry to be annoying, but I'm really not quite sure I know what a web ring is, even with that link someone gave me. What's this post about? It sounds neat, but I'm not sure... help! |

Slime: a web ring is like an organization, group, club, loosely speaking. When one jins a web ring they display an image or text link on there homepage that serves as a link to a 'ring of websites'. Normally the option would be to click to the next website in teh ring, or to pick a random website within the ring. |

The funnest part for me is the listing of sites, that goes on forever, literally. You can keep selecting the "next 10 sites" and since it's a loop you always come back where you started. If you look at the order things come out, the sites next to each other on the list are linked together, get it? The newest site, at the "end" of the chain, always links back to the OzoneAsylum, the first link on the chain. It's kind of neat, the thing is small enough now where you can click along, visit all the links, and end up back here, heh. I like it! |

Hey Slime! You can do all sorts of weird stuff with the links, they just need to be there. Persoanlly, I think it'd be nice if they could be found easily, just in case someone (like me) might want to take a swing through the ring, click click clicking along, it's kind of fun! 'Cept I got lost at 'zaers site, took me a few minutes to stumble across the links, heh. I was thinking of doing some mousefollowing dhtml interface for the main ozone site, maybe a compass or something, maybe a particle accelerator. The only thing that needs to be noticed on framed sites is that the "where the code is" age in the admin needs to be the specific page that actually has the code, the other one can be the frameset, that's where folks link to. |
