general happy-joy is that 10px is the threashold for legibility. that's all i am going to say about that. |

And 10px tends to be too small for some fonts on the macs |

Besides the need to have the font for it to work I think NN makes anything under around 10 illegible |

I use Sevenet7 at 8px a lot, and nobody seems to bitch. I think you'd need to use it as graphics always, not as any inserted fornt, that might not work. I may be wrong, but doesn't flash use system fonts? Can't count on it always being there. If you use the bold version of sevenet7 (using the fake-bold option in photoshop), make sure you use a tracking of 100, and no anti-aliasing! (ever!) |

Oh! BTW, using the point spec for setting your font size is not a good thing if you're concerned with exact layout, (or readability on the Macintosh!) For that translation, an 8pt font appears like a 6pt font on Windows, try it and see, no good. However, 8px is always equal to 8px! Pixels are good, we use them on the web. Inches are imaginary, and have little or nothing to do with what's on screen. |

flash does not use system fonts. you can use any font you want in flash and it will stay true (instead of switching to default). |
