A question for the Doctor

This might have been mentioned a million times before by millions of other, but I've never seen anythng about it;

How come that when I reply to a string my reply doesn't show when the page is reloaded? I can only see it if I try to reply one more time (then it's listed at the bottom of the page).
As I said it must have been asked about before, but it's so damn anoying sometimes (especially when testing a new sig).

OK, that's an easy One, I know the answer! When I first started this board, I was on a somewhat overloaded sun unix server. My cgi processing was throttled down, but the disk access! Woo, that was fast. Then I moved to a new server, much faster procesing times, but it's based on a PIII system, so the disk access is much slower.

Now, when you post something, you get the option of "click if you don't want to wait for the page to load." Well, don't do that! What's happening is that you're getting to the page before the new version has been written to disk. Maybe you can push it a bit, but you gotta wait just a couple of milliseconds longer than you are now. Sorry aout all those wasted milliseconds!

Doc, why don't you remove that "Click here if you don't want to wait any longer..." link to avoid confusion?

or even better: "IF YOU CLICK HERE, YOU WILL BE SORRY. THIS LINK LEADS TO A IP LOG WHICH PINPOINTS YOUR LOCATION FOR THE MAJOR LAW-ENFORCEMENT AGENCY IN YOUR AREA. FURTHER, WE HAVE PROOF THAT YOU ARE USING A PIRATED VERSION OF PHOTOSHOP. YOU WILL BE CAUGHT AND EXECUTED."

You know, those milliseconds can add up. I'm saving up mine right now. I'll have a whole extra minute of time in 2006 to spend doing whatever I want and you'll be jealous! :P

I've always been a big fan of a button that says "don't click here" and when you do, cause you just can't help it, it takes you to a page with a billion pop up windows all saying "Couldn't wait another 2 milliseconds could you?"

Blook's right, all that time adds up. Im planning on using my time in 4092 to vaccation somewhere exotic. They way I figure, if I'm still alive, global warming would have already destroyed most of the Earth and I can grab a nice beach in the artic all for myself.

Hmm? Too damn lazy to track down that link and eliminate it, heh. The fact is, you *can* click the link and get to the page just a bit faster, you just can't click it right *away*. How many milliseconds must you wait? How many can you shave off? You could be taking that holdiay decades earlier!
