Preserved Topic: Doc Ozone's Image Swap JS generator (Page 1 of 1)

Hey Doc.. I had a little extra time so I made this script quickly:

I didn't actually "finish" it... but with whats there it should work...

Anyway... just wanted to check if it's alright for me to post it on my site (I'll add a thing saying Script based on Doc Ozone's JS ImageSwap... www.ozones.com" or something.

Whoa! That is *super* I just love the concept! I had some plan like this in my future, but it kept getting put off, and probably would for some time to come. I actually have a more streamlined version of this script, designed so that it will work with all browsers that can do this stuff and should be *much* easier for folks to go in and do some hand-coded changes. Drop me an email and I'll supply you with the most current neat-o rollover script I have and you can add it in, I'll even link to it from Hands-on, cool?

Ah! OK, when you define the image array of names, you need to eliminate the last comma, it will cause an error.

Ok, I fixed the problem... should work now ... still gotta do some testing of the script (not to mention clean it up.. the coding is messy)...

All fields are required except the "status". Also You cannot scip an image (say you select 3 images to generate but only filled out the 1st and 3rd one... then it won't work.. but if you do only the 1st and 2nd ones, nott the 3rd, it will work... if you do all, of course it will work)

here's the easiest method i know, it just relies on a tidy naming convention...
function doMouseOver(picture){
document.images[picture].src = picture + '_over.gif'
}
function doMouseOut(picture){
document.images[picture].src = piture + '.gif'
}

and the picture is:
<img name = 'mypic' src='mypic.gif' border=0 onmouseover="doMouseOver('mypic')" onMouseOut="doMouseOut('mupic')">

so yeah.

bunchapixels: 2 problems though..

1) people can't name the image whatever they want
2) doesn't preload the image

That's pretty slick Blitz - nice work.

Would you guys consider letting this be used as part of the Gurus Network as well? It would fit into our 'Utilities' section of the tutorial area very well.

DL-44 of course (if Doc allows it). Though wish I could become a member of the guruz (hehe.. I submitted that form a while back.. but never got any e-mail or anything.... though I am a moderator on the forum)

No it's not downloadable (PHP is server side)... though eventually I might make it in C++, TCL, or something like that... then it would be downloadable (though right now, don't think it's that hard to goto a webpage to use it...)
