Gimp's not that bad, and at the price who's to complain? Anyway if you already don't know you can get it at www.gimp.org

It loops, yes. But it will also never end. I wrote the script to slideshow all the jpgs in a directory. So as I get more, I'll just dump them on in.

grumble, why do you assume that anything that is "free" is crappy? the most secure operating system with default install (openBSD) is free and runs great. if you look at servers that have the longest up times, more than 60% of them are running some sort of BSD (which is also free -- i should also mention that because of BSD, we have the internet).

i happened to have tried gimp. ive been using photoshop since '99 and it is really different to use gimp. some of the tools dont work the same (for some reason, the paint bucket doesnt work at all, might have compiled wrong on our machine or something), but most of the options are the same (preserve transparency, burn, dodge, smudge all have various pressure settings, etc.). would i switch to gimp? no. if i hadnt ever used photoshop, maybe i wouldnt find gimp so foreign.

la'dsasha, i didnt say, that anything free is crappy.
but i only know very very few free programs which are real great! and gimp is not, in my opinion.

that with the uptime is sure true! (though i think it also depends on the hardware, the configuration, etc... im sure you can also get a win2k server running a year or so)

but i dont wanna start an argument about linux vs win now. im studying computer science at a technical university. i have that everyday! it's a religious thing!

I love linux and the kde has some real funky themes happening.........

My kids 486 is a linux box cuase they have the console games and they like them and it does have a corel program made for linux I think it is draw but have been known to be wrong on occasion.........

The thing I love about linux is they have never gotten a blue screen of death or illegal action or browser shutdowns it is kickass stable in that department once they get the rest going it will give windoze a solid run for it's money but as it stands it 's graphics and internet abilities are by far their strongest area
