I just got an industrial done across the top of my ear, helix(cartilage) to helix, and it's definitely the most fun i've had in a while, though of course it hurt a bit. Sure it was a little awkward dragging my mom along since i'm only 16, but the guy who did it was really cool. My digital camera is getting borrowed now but I'll definitely post a pic up soon. I started kinda basic with a stainless steel 12ga. 1.25 inch bar with .25 inch spikes on each end, eventually though i'll go with some color of titanium or black niobium. Also i eventually want to get a vertical industrial, helix(cartilage) to conch, or helix to rook, that crosses the one i have now. of course with that i'd wanna get something on the right side as well, maybe an orbital through the outer conch...

Any of you care to share piercing experiences, this was my first ever and i can't wait to do more...

I stepped on a nail about 12 years ago. Hurt like a mutha, right through the shoe. Had to get a tetanus shot the next day so that's like 2 piercings in 2 days. Neither improved or detracted from my appearance though.

Piercings are soooo last week...gotta look for something cooler to do

I shot myself with a nail gun a few years ago. 16 ga., 2 inch straight wire inside my left knee. Does that count ?

anyone pierce their tongue? i think it'd be kinda cool, but i wonder if it would be hard to eat.

Yeah, a tongue piercing sounds like fun, also a single nipple piercing...

My next piercing will probably be an industrial crossing what i've got now, or an orbital looping it...then go for nipple or tongue...everyones doing the nipple and tongue thing nowadays so I'm looking for more imaginative things to do with multiple piercings and single piece of jewelry...

Hmm...I don't think i've ever stepped on a nail, though I've had some branding done: i stepped on a hot barbeque grill that my dad set on the ground when i was one, scarification as well: slipped on a fence, the steel point on top caught my wrist and now i've got a three inch scar down my right wrist as if i had tried to slit it...

Hrm, I don't like ear projects(on me at least) but I've had a few other holes punched in me.

Pinkie-ring web + thumb-index web with flat discs on the inside of my hand, looked neat

Looks neat, hurts fairly bad, not many other people will have it, prevents you from doing anything really usefull, like juggling clubs.

no its not hard to eat, but it is hard to pick food out from in between your teeth and your cheeks.

Doesn't hurt that much(to get pierced, stretching sucks, bad), heals fast, low maintence, everyone and their 12 year old sister have them, can chip your teeth, can come with shitty jewelery(plastics/glow in the dark/etc, you can break them with your teeth and if you swallow the shards you can possibly need surgery/stomach pumpage, BUY NICE EQUIPMENT) Good for sexual fun...

This was the last piece of foreign material to invade my body, its fun to pick snot off of. I keep it hidden most of the time, just like having it up there.

I've had my labret pierced before also, it was a pain in the ass and irritated me constantly. It also looked pretty good and lots of my friends have them with no problems.

Since you got an industrial done, I'm going to assume you went to an actual piercing studio, not some mall shop, but I'm still going to hit you up with some advice:

Shop:

If you see a piercing gun, run away. They are impossible to sterilize, mangle your flesh and are used by amateurs. No respectable shop will even have one, unless to show people what not to do. The piercer should put on gloves, and replace them anytime he/she touches anything not sterilized. Needle should come out of a sterile pouch and not touch anything. Jewelry should have been soaked in a sterilizing solution... I'm not sure what the laws are where you are from, but in many places it is ridiculously easy to get licensed and set up a shop. If you have any doubts about the sterility of the shop, you should start asking questions or just leave.

Jewelry

If you get gold, it should be fairly pure, like 18k+ and definatly not anything plated. Plated jewelry will wear off and is often made out of junk material. Niobium is nice and inert, and few people have problems with it. The oxide layer on colored (anodized) Titanium will wear out after a while so I would avoid going with that unless you really want colored metal. Titanium by itself is good. Stainless steel can contain nickel, but otherwise is usually fine. Silver is good for healed piercings, but not in freshies, i've heard it can discolor also, but i've never seen that happen. Pretty much any other metal is going to cause problems of some sort. Platinum is good also, but spendy. Acrylic is used a lot, and i hate it. It can break, but its light weight and can look pretty. I wouldn't get it in anything remotely un-healed. Any type of plastic is a bad idea. Its cheap in all ways. Wood. Wood is fun, but completely unsterile. Use only in healed piercings.

Also your barbells/etc should have internally threaded end pieces. By this I mean the post should be female threaded in both ends, and the balls or whatever you have on the ends should have the male threads. If you get a post with a male thread, it can tear up your skin when you stick it through. Just another sign of quality.

Have fun, and take it slow, you don't want to do anything you regret.

I have 2 in the bottom of each ear... 1 in the top of 1 ear and my navel done.

That's about it. My stepdad is a dentist and talked me out of getting my tongue done and due to the profession I'm in I am happy that I didn't.

I saw something the other day at a web site that a guy did to his *stuff* ..... not sure
what it's called....but *it* had little beads or something all under the skin up and down *it* ,,,,, looked strange but bet it served it's purpose ~fan'in self~

back in '89 during my senior year of High School I pierced the top side of my hand with a gold safety pin....I also wore a black beret, black trenchcoat, and black 10 hole doc martins to school...

Never had anything pierced intentionally, although a friend of mine did put a staple into my right bicep with a staplegun, right after stating (and isn't this always the way?), "Don't worry, it isn't loaded..."

years ago living in a commune in The City, i decided to pierce my ears.. got so much teasing for doing it with a needle and thread i decided to do the other ear later.. never got around to it.. but it came into fashion a few years later to have one pierced ear..

other piercings were accidental.. dropped a knife on my foot.. and a few years ago had let my garden rest.. was walking through it but the grass had hidden a garden fork i'd left there.. pierced my foot right through the rubber slippers i was wearing.. no stitches but got a tetanus shot...

people are always suggesting i get my other ear pierced...

And also, what's the biggest earring size you can get the first time, or does that depend on where you get it done?

you can usually get up to 10 gau. piercings just done, i think, might be 12...otherwise you gotta wait until it heals and then have it stretched, i think...maybe...?

I got my navel pierced a year ago, but the ring fell out and the hole closed too quickly.

I got pierced by a 4 guage needle, twice. Looks about as big as your thumb when someone is about to stick it through you.

Yeah, I had a massive needle plunged into my top gum when I had an extra tooth taken out. It felt as if the dentist chucked his hand and lodged it under my lip. I'll never get a piercing anywhere.

Learning Karate a few years back and was taught that rings, chains or anything else that shouldn't be on your face is not good to have on your face when you're in a fight..................
