I got a kick out of this. I was checking my referral stats and found this page. This guy likes the Doc (who doesn't?), the GurusNetwork, and he's got a link to me

I ran the German text into AltaVista's translator and I got a funny result:

Ozone angehört. Neben zahlreichen Effekten besticht diese Seite vor allem durch die animierten Phantasygraphiken, wie sie nur selten zu sehen sind.
Und wem das zu langweilig ist, der schaut ein bißchen in Bugi´s Wohnzimmer...

came out:

A member of the Guru network, to which also Doc of ozones belongs. Beside numerous effects this page captivates particularly by the animated Phantasygraphiken, as they are to be seen only rare. And whom is too boring, a little in Bugix27s living room looks...

So, what the hell is a Phantasygraphiken??? And did he call me too boring???

Any insight would be great from our German speaking inmates.

Oh and when I was browsing the site I found a use of one of Doc's Bryce images. Doc, I don't know if you mind but you oughta be aware. http://www.zasch.de/contact.htm

Phantasygraphiken = Fantasy graphics

The last sentence says (in my *free* interpretation, to make it sound good in English): Who finds that boring (after awhile), should look a little bit in the Bugi's living room. Basically, it means that there's more than Fantasy graphics on your site...

That's cool Bugimus!

Not a German speaker, but it is not a far stretch to guess that "Phantasygraphiken" means "fantasy graphics".

And my stab at that last sentense would be:

"And when things are too boring, then take a little look in Bugi's living room..."

edit: I need to learn to reply faster! Mr. Max translation of the last sentense is a better one, I think.

O.K. bugs. I speak german. Hell, I live in germany! So, it goes like this: First, literal translation. Then meaning translation.
'Ozone angehört. Neben zahlreichen Effekten besticht diese Seite vor allem durch die animierten Phantasygraphiken, wie sie nur selten zu sehen sind.
Und wem das zu langweilig ist, der schaut ein bißchen in Bugi´s Wohnzimmer...'

"Heard Ozone. Besides the many effects, this site is just full of seldomly seen animated Fantasy Graphics. And when that is too boring, then take a short look in Bugi's living room..."

And it all means..."Very interesting stuff in Ozone, but for really good stuff, check out Bug's site."
Hope that was helpful in clearing that up. Love the new sig.
Until the Adobe dries up...

Geez, babelfish does an *awful* job translating german to english! Maybe this is more difficult than I would have throught, but I do wish it'd stop tranlating my name, "thaddeus of ozones" (?) I probably won't scream about his using that bryce image, hard to be mad with someone saying so many nice things about me and Bugs both!

Sounds like a good review, Bugs.

Reminds me of the time I got a review (in English) that ended with "We think it's one of the nattiest looking sites on the Net."

Thought it was an insult till I looked up "natty." "trimly neat and tidy : SMART" I took it as a compliment...

A long time ago I translated "take me out to the ball game" into various languages and back with Babelfish. I have recreated this bizarre experiment for your entertainment and edification. Enjoy.

(Now that Babelfish does Oriental languages, it's even funnier.)

Hey Bugs,
Hmmm why does it say "Lovers" in that column to the left?
something you're not telling us?

Well Bugs, I think it's a pretty good translation... I think, the german is - hm - not really strange, but it has some not so common words in it - hm - Phantasygraphiken - I think he invented this word.... It seems to me somehow exaggereted. Like a review in an expensive art magazin. But it's definitly positive. And WebShaman summed it up very well.

Whoa-ha linear, your page is great! LOL! *Wipes tears away*

After reading Linear's page, I think it has become very clear what it means for something to be lost in the translation! That was hilarious.

Lovers? Um... uh...

Did I mention that I speak German? Did I mention that I don't speak English? Did I mention that I sometimes have these blackouts? *Please more pills for me!*

Congrats Bugs,

I've visited your site more than a few times myself, and I know it's a well deserved compliment.

LMAO, man that was funny, and you definitely have too much time on your hands. Thanks for the laugh!
