I'd suggest (not that I'm a self-promotional bastard) heading over to Digital Web Magazine and reading, oh, I don't know, Animosity for Animus and The Business of Blue, as they are both really great articles about colour! oh, and I'm sure you can find other stuff, too. or whatever.

How do you compute text, link and vlink colors when you adopt one of your schemes for the major colors? Edit: (By the way, go here and click the [06] link and you'll see one of your "children" in action. I struggled for quite a while to come up with a link color that worked.)
