During computer startup (Windows logo), press F8 and then choose option "Safe Mode"...

no, no, JakeB you've got the right idea with safe mode. fall back to VGA driver then reinstall the old driver, you'll be good to go. The key shortcuts listed above are just what you want.

Another thing would be to boot to the command prompt and then run scandisk from there. That might solve the safe mode problems then boot to safe mode and reinstall your drivers.

although you might want to run scanreg.exe from dos-prompt maybe you can restore old registry backups and boot normally after!

Working with MS Windows is like a game. It's you against the operating system, trying to see who can control the computer. Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes the operating system almost has it completely, and you're running around, trying to find the one way you can possibly get into the computer to claim it for yourself. Sometimes you think you've got it, and you drop your gaurd and Windows pounces on you with a blue screen, and you know you only have a tiny chance of regaining control.

Blah.

...then you lose, and it's time to insert another $100 to play another round (upgrade to a new version).

i got it fixed, but i cant do some of the things you said cause i have winMe it does have emulated dos so some of the things don't work. It waits until it boots to windows then runs scandisk.

i think you can make it so you can use a prompt before going into windows, but i haven't done it yet.

You can make a boot disk with ME and it will open to the command prompt.
