Okay there are obviously copyright issues with stealing images.

That said Google has a new Image search feature currently in beta

That's a very good feature. Excellent!

Now, if I could only find a way to stop original Google from showing me PDF files in results.

Hah...

It says in their Image Search FAQ

quote:
To remove a copyrighted image from Google's Image Search, please go to: http://www.google.com/remove.html. On this page you will find instructions on how to contact us about copyrighted images that need to be removed.

Gee, nothing like putting the onus on the owner of the image instead of on the image "borrower" (to put it nicely).

How to disable it? Just ignore it

It's the Napster of images!!! Oh, don't worry I won't use this feature to rip anyone off. I just want to preview images and when I find the one I like I will ask the owner's permission first before using them. :: insert evil laugh here ::

Sash, lately I've used Google to find satellite tv related web sites. And almost every time, more than 50% of results were pointing to PDFs that have nothing to do with satellite tv. So, it's a very stupid feature, that can't be turned off (you can set everything else in Google's preferences, but not that ).

Yeah, I agree that not much has changed...the burden is still on the author to protect himself. Thieves just have an easier time finding the images now. Maybe one answer is to keep all personal art images on passworded pages so people who are looking for art, and not to steal, would ask to see them.
