Don't you just hate it when you hear the alarm but somehow manage to sitch it off and fall straight back to sleep. I finally woke up without outside interference 8 minutes before I should have been at my desk at work. AAARRGGGHHH!!! I hate that feeling, I know that no matter how fast I shower and get going I will not make it on time, and yet I still rush and get myself worked up about it. Luckily my wife doesn't use the car on Fridays so I decided not to cycle and take the car. I still found myself speeding to work at twice the spead limit, even though I was already 10 minutes late at that point. Finally made it to my desk about 20 minutes late, still rushing and stressed.
The funny thing is, I have an office on the opposite side of the works to my boss, so he never really know what time I arrive/leave, so there is no need to panic. I just can't help it. I HATE being late for anything.
Hows eveyone else doing today, okay I hope. . . . .

worn out.
the day is over.
the week has ended.
the weekend has begun.
fairly busy weekend ahead...
going to see a movie this evening.
1 soccer game on saturday morning.
working on a fund raiser for work on saturday for about 8 hours.
Going to a friend's football game later that same night.
1 soccer game on sunday morning.
Get some major reading done for my college course I do on-line.
Make my way downtown for the giant festivities that are going on later that night.
I've got an insane amount of other things I want to do.
we'll see how it goes.
But anyway...
Yep... I know what you mean...
when you're running late... often times you put more stress on yourself over it, than it's worth.

The only thing *planned* this weekend is going out for a marathon drinking session with a group from work tonight (Friday). Saturday I need to either fix the washing machine or buy a new one - damn stupid thing -
Sunday, no planes yet, go with whatever comes along

After that is over I am going to have to work Sunday..........but then I am off again Mon and Tue...My regular days off.
I hope everyone has as good a time this weekend and I will be.

Well, Trixter, its seems that unfortunately you've been afflicted with what is commonly referred to as a conscious. Less scrupulous members of the Asylum have mercifully been spared this horrible malady.
i.e. I haven't been to work on time for over a year. I'm never extremely late (well, once I was a two hours late), just a few minutes here and there. heh.

This morning i did not even hear the alarm clock... When i woke up it was 7.13 in the morning my work starts at 7.00... so after realizing this fact and getting my body in motion i first whent to the telephone and called my boss. Then i did what i always do when i am late. Take some time to wake up, take a long shower (instead off none or a short one). Get some decent breakfast (instead the part off bread i normally shove to the inside while i'm biking to my work). Then i arrived at work on 8.20! while i was fit i could start instantly. Normal i need first some coffee and some hour or so before i get things done...
No i am on weekend so i hope everyone had a good day today.
Someone has some "cold ones" ready in the fridge?

I'm a punctual person. Which is good because my work has the following policy:
1. If you don't get here early, you're late.
2. If you don't stay late, you're leaving early.

I train every place I ever work at to expect a few things.
First, if I'm there before 10:00 am, I'm EARLY! Oh! So early, "Doc, what are *you* doing here?"
I don't take lunch, but I go outside to smoke quite often.
If I'm pacing, muttering, and stroking my chin - I'm *working*, even if it looks like I'm just outside smoking! Thinking is work too.
If there's nothing to do, I will leave early, after arriving late.
If there's *tons* to do, I might not leave at all. If I do leave, I'll be working from home.
When the network goes down, I go home.
If I've worked all weekend to prepare for "the big launch", I'll be there for the launch party, but then you might not see me for a day or two. Funny.
If we're tracking billable hours, I will always have more than anyone else. And I don't even get to bill my best hours! (Try explaining to a client, "well, I was lying late in bed, half asleep, thinking about your site! That'll be $400 please.") Heh.
Your pal, -doc-

Always work Saturdays. Weekend starts Sunday, then, it`s over on...Sunday.
Lateness is a pet peeve of mine, and my Boss is the WORST . When he tells me to meet him somewhere, I always double his ETA, add 10% and still get there first.

Man, sleep and me - we just don't get along these days.
I've been late to work in the past four months much more than I've ever been on time / early. In my case, this is due to a health-related issue. (Unpreventable one.) But still. It gets me down.
Nice to know I'm not alone anyway.

I can't be late, I just can't! My folks were real anal about timeliness when I was growing up and then I joined the Marine Corps where a person can get into serious trouble for being late. With all that "if you're not there 10 minutes eary, you're late" training all my life, I seriously have a phobia about being late for anything.
For the past few years I've been a "boss" (staff sergeant is a supervisory rank in the Corps). I tolerate folks being barely on time and I even cut some folks slack for being a few minutes late if it appears their tardiness was something beyond their control. But I really let folks have it if they are blatantly late. All the "didn't hear the alarm clock" crap is a red flag to me that I may have trouble on my hands with the tardy troop.
I've recently gotten out of the Corps and will soon be taking over as a supervisor for a small department at the local newspaper. I'm honestly not sure how I will handle chronic tardiness if it comes up with my future employees. Can't really lay into them like I would with young Marines. hmmmmmmm what to do ... what to do ...

threep laughs and says:
"nah... i can't say sleeping thru my alarm would ever make me annoyed - it gives me that guilty satisfaction.
and i rarely ever (almost never) do it, so if it happens, i needed it!
what REALLY pisses me off is when i wake up 15 mins before my alarm is set to go off. 15 mins that i bloody well could've slept through.. but 15 mins isnt enough time to get back to sleep - hmph.
...and as for getting to work late, well, i can't. i work whatever hours i want. most people here work 9:00-5:30, i usually rock up at 8:00, and leave around 5:00. or rock up around midday if i have other stuff to do in the morning, or leave early if i have something to do that arvo, or even both!"
