Finally got the guts to join... I had been here a few times to check out some of your Art Works and Sigs, and was really impressed... Also came here before looking for help on how to do some stuff in PhotoShop, which you guys also helped with (not me directly, but others with some of the same problems)... SO I don't know how much I would be able to contribute here, but hope to learn half as much as you guys all seem to know...

Got a question for you all, how many of you learned the things you know from a school and how many learned from just playing around with PhotoShop???

welcome bozzak...yeah everything i learnt was from playing around.. i think its the way to go...i kinda have a disliking for schools, being kicked out of both highschool and college... :P

But most of what I've learn't that I actualy use in the real world has been through the pursits of my own personal interests. I seem to learn better when I really want to know something then having someone force feed me information that I might not want to know at all.

I do more coding than PS and I've learned in schools, on the job, and from playing around. Learning is good

Personally, I've learned a lot from playing around. Especially in the Asylum.

Yah, I also learned mostly from fooling around. School taught me some useful concepts, but nothing with any "meat" on it, know what I mean? The best way to know something inside and out is to poke at it continually, which requires a lot of dedication (read: fanaticism), you gotta go deep enough to make a few miostakes. (And THEN you gotta figure out how you made that lst mistake, so cool! Heh.) Welcome.

I don't have the credentials that most of the other guys in this thread do, but I learned most of what I know from the people right in this here Asylum. It's a great bunch of people, with a shit load of knowledge that they're more than willing to share.

Well, I also didn't learn anything I know from school, mostly in school it was Life Drawing and Painting... Was at the time interested in Animation, but then took the Graphic Design Class and got into it (mainly because I couldn't compare to the Students at Sheridan College ) Only learn CorelDRAW4 in School, but from there played around and had a Job for 3 years with a Community Newspaper designing ads and used PhotoStylus... Now, it is PS and some Web design, but have to use Microsoft FrontPage for it, since the only HTML/Java stuff I know is a Triple Mouse Over... I hope I can come back as much as possible, but for the time being, little bit busy getting ready to head back home to Canada... So won't have as much time for now, but will try to steal um...learn ideas from your designs as much as possible... Later...
