Hello to all. I've been a fan of this site for a very long time now and have been "trolling" around for an extended period of time. Now to my silly question: |

Hi Milkman! Yes, your brain very likely will explode, just not right away. Most of us have come to rely on "Duct Tape?", the magic fiber that binds the universe together, this allows us to contain all the silly new technologies created. Seriously though, you don't need to learn *everything* about everything, just a whole heckuva lot about everything, a much more attainable goal. Stick around, you are in the right place, and strangely enough the more you learn, the easier the next thing becomes. So many of the languages have nearly identical syntax, and once you know something *can* be done, all you need is the right way of phrasing it. Think of it like a D&D roleplaying game, and you're a wizard who has to say his spells properly. New spells can be created at any time, that's what makes for the real wizards.<grin> Welcome! |

I'm afraid that I suffer from the same affliction as Milkman. I've been deeply involved with HTML and graphic design for over six years now, during all this time I haven't bothered to learn any new graphic programs or languages, only building an excellent but limited portfolio with what I had initially learned. I've known about Ozone for a few good years, and now I am just starting to use it again. I suggest that you read my first post in order to realize the full breadth of my problem. I am now getting into Photoshop and Illustrator using a slew of tutorial pages (Doc and Phong included). Any other handy Photoshop/Illustrator tutorial resource suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Keep in mind that I am quite biased (I love Altamira Composer), it might take me some time to appreciate these foreign programs. I am also learning ASP (VBScript) as well as occasionally dabbling in DHTML and Flash, I am making good progress, but I feel overwhelmed by all the new languages that are popping-up. I guess that I'll just have to take a deep breath and slowly learn them, one at a time. |
