I remember long time ago, when you posted a new topic, and somebody replies it, a bright e-mail nofies you that someboby has replied to your post, signed by the good Doc Ozone. Maybe you have already discussed this, but remember, i've been jumping in Miami....

I think that feature was removed a loooong time ago, 'cause people would use it and then be sorry that they had later on, and if their email was wrong then doc would get the email sent back, so it was annoying for him too.

Yea

I think people were checking the box that said they wanted an email sent to them if somebody replied to their post. But at the same time, they were registering with false email addresses. As a result, Doc was having to deal with a ton of returned emails every day. I wouldn't want to deal with that, and I don't think the Doc did either.

He should enable the registration feature of verifying email addresses. I miss the notifications. Can't say I've had a problem at GurusNetwork with this (yet).

Pugzly, if Doc enables that feature now, someone would still have to verify all e-mails from members that are already registered (and Asylum already has so many members).

True. Or disable their accounts as the mail bounces.....

That would still be a lot of work for Doc...

Yah, you all seem to have the skinny on this situation. I could've done the email confirm option, but didn't, and now I have 1285 users in the "unconfirmed" category! I don't want to have to disable people if they don't have it either, that would totally suck, and blow my "never ban" policy, hrmph.

So! So sorry, but this option will not be re-enabled at this time.

(Hmm, I *do* seem to have ther option of bulk mailing all of you guys, and I guess I would then have a nice collection of bouncy-bounce emails, heh. I'll think on this.)

I never understood the need for this feature anyway.

maybe it's just me, but I manage to check in at least once a day....and I can see plain and simple if anyone has responded to a topic.....

threep butts in and says:
"hey dl-44: do you have one of those corporate desk calendars, with a quote for each day? cause the quote you had form mr wilde is the one from fri the 13th for me!"
...and then, commeting on the subject at hand, adds:
"um... yeah, thanks for the asylum doc! i don't really feel like complaining about the rules of the game to the guy who owns the court, and has all the balls (don't go applying the analogy too far, heh)."

hah! no, I don't, but that's pretty nifty

I just like to read through famous quotations and pick out anything interesting. and I love Oscar Wilde.

threep shakes his head, and says:
"no. no it is not nifty. it is corporate crap, that reminds me with each turn of the calendar page how routine my life is, and reminds me by my eagerness to read the next day's quote how boring my life is, and reminds me by the fact that it lies on each one of several thousand desks in this building how much of a meaningless drone i am, from 8:00-5:00, 5 days a week.
luckily, the asylum tends to counteract each of these reminders."
realising the mysteriously stabilising effects of the asylum, threep puts his razors back into his drawer, and sifts through the messages for a few more humanising minutes.
