Went to two matches of WC '94 in Dallas, the second one being the quarterfinal between the Netherlands and Brazil which was the best match of the cup that year. Brazil won 3-2, all five goals were scored in a 21 minute span in the second half. We were behind the net 20 rows back to watch the winning free kick from about 25 yards out, unbelievable. Both sets of fans were awesome, incredible atmosphere. Probably the most pure example of what sports are supposed to be that I've ever experienced...

Fig, I have a friend who lived in Arlington at that time and he must have been sitting awfully close to you. He said he and his parents were the only orange shirts amongst a sea of Brazil fans. His experience was quite similar to yours though, awesome fans in both shirts, everybody just enjoyed that great game. I still watch it on tape now and then.

You are quite correct in saying that that was the best game of the cup. For me, that game was the final, even though I was rooting for Italy overall (and the Dutch in that game). HellaCup.

Cool stuff guys. I need to try to see if there's a video of that game available, I think my dad has it on tape somewhere but the quality is prob questionable. JK, is your copy good enough to attempt to dub?

We got the tix for like $100 apiece online somewhere. We had gone to a first-round match between Saudi Arabia and Sweden and wanted to go again, then found out that either Ireland (I'm half-Irish) was playing Holland (my friend was born there) for the berth in the quarter in Dallas. Ireland lost in a horrible match that my buddy didn't even have the heart to make fun of me about

JK, the guy with me was probably the only other person in a dutch jersey in that section, we may've even chatted with your friend. The Brazilian fans were awesome tho, so fun and very gracious even after the match. The Dutch guys were all cool too, mostly large, orange, laid-back drunk guys My buddy traded jerseys with a Brazilian fan after the match, way cool. Just a great experience overall...

Why did they do a World Cup in USA if anybody in USA likes soccer?

I love soccer, i've seen Brazil Playing in Venezuela (vs Venezuela, of course) and that's good, but i've always dreamed going to a World Cup, the next is in Japan Korea (Or Korea Japan, you know some fight between them to say which country must go first) but all the tickets are sold..
My favorite Team is Spain, and yours?

And my Favorite League Team is Real Madrid

Brazil is playing very bad lately, i think that in the next World Cup is not goint to be all their fans (remember, now is the "Copa America" in Colombia, and Mexico Beat Brazil 1-0) And either do Germany, so we have do wait for the "littles" teams as Croatia, Yugoslavia (Don't know in english), Bulgaria and all that, but do not expect nothing from the "big" Teams!!!

Resume Given....

The tape I have is on loan Fig, I'm glad you said that... the guy that borrowed it also has a match of mine from one of the US Cups where we were playing Nigeria and that has one of the strangest skill things I've ever seen on it done by JJ Okocha, I mustn't lose that tape, it's critical

The quality of both of these tapes is pretty good, TV to tape you know and they haven't degraded, better than nothing right? I'll see about copying one for you.

Yeah, Brazil has played horribly in qualifying. The US was good until their last match, ugh...

Awesome, thanks JK And I don't know that I've seen the other match. Sounds like a moment you need to digitize and share
