Just as a follow up covering decelopments over this side of the Pond - Canary Wharf in London (pos. the most likely target after the House of Commons, etc.) has been shut down/evacuated and everyone at the BBC has been warned to be on alert but no significant steps have been taken.

The twin towers of the WTC is gone. 2 planes crashed into the WTC 15 minutes apart. there were 92 on one plane and 99 on another. a plane was shot down ,over the pentagon by a SAM site (sufrace to air missle) it is believe that it was trying to hit the center of the building and missed. A place crashed just ouside of pittsburg and there are 4 confirmed missing planes out there some place, possible hijacked. Disney is shut down. The mexico and canada borders are down and the kenedy space center is shut down and evac.

Seems most news has now moved to interviewing survivors and eyewitnesses now, little new news for some time now.
Reporter on CNN talked with a guy who worked on 56th floor of "tower 1". Said heard boom and felt building shake (imagine a big building like that shaking!). Had no idea what was going on, but folks started evacuating. Was calm for the most part, little bit of crying, but no hysterics at that time. Smoke started overtaking them somewhere around 20th floor (I think). Evacuation slowed quite a bit, but folks were still able to get out.

Amazing. I didn't think many folks would make it out, but apparently they did. There are going to be some pretty amazing stories out of this one!

They just showed the first pictures around the ground areas of the WTC buildings and I sit here crying. I have never seen anything so horrific in my life. It looks like a massive bomb has gone off. When the 2 WTC buildings crumbled....they crushed Fire Trucks and other emergency vehicles there. I'm in total shock at what the new pictures are showing.

I have heard nothing of a plain being shot down. I think only 4 were stolen and all 4 have crashed. right? although i have head almost noting about the one in PA.

Synthetic I'm not going argue with you, I jsut posted what I heard on CNN. I think CNN is pretty good about information. but, there is 4 CONFIRMED PLANES MISSING

fwiw.. *all* commercial airliners *are* accounted for.

1 crashed in Penn.

Total = 4 crashed planes

"None still Missing"

my roomate jsut confirmed that the place did crash into the pentagon, his uncle was on the ground and saw the place hit, no there was no SAM site, sorry I am really frantic right now. sorry for the mis info, I repeat there was no sam site only a crash it was confired by a pentagon worker that is a uncle of my roomate.

Shi-i was jsut telling him i wasn't going to argue as alot of this info is still sketchy, unless you have eyewitnesses.

Synthetic is correct here. No additional 'missing' planes are out right now.

Just got back from donating blood, I try pretty consistantly since I am one of the AB- donors. Like jeni said if you are in the US go give blood, they are packed with donors here locally.

The poster has demanded we remove all his contributions, less he takes legal action.

I called my boss and co-workers from my previous job. My former boss has a cousin who works at the Pentagon. The daughter of a former co-worker goes to school 10 blocks from the WTC. They're on pins and needles, since they can't get any word from either place.

Dark, and others: There is no need to rush and give blood. There will be enough blood available to handle this disaster. What is important is that that the national blood supply will be taxed by this event, so it's important to help replenish it. Just calm down and go down there later this week - unless you live in New York or DC.

The most up to date estimates of the deaths are in the region of 10,000 - those kind of numbers are difficult to contemplate.

I heard Tony B's speech just now - it looks like they have banned flights over London and stepped up security at the airports but there doesn't seem much else that can be done.

CNN reports 35 people injured at Pentagon, no reports of deaths yet ...

The US is currently at ThreatCon Delta, the highest threat rating for US Military. All missles armed and ready to go. All bases sealed except for military personnel.

WGN reports that the woodfield mall is closing at 4pm. No trains are going to the O'hara airport and I can only assume that the sears tower is evac also. I pray that they don't attack Chicago...my girlfriend lives 15 minutes away from the Sears tower!

I got a message from my friend... she is alright. She was not on any of the flights, and was just about to leave wfor work when she got the call to turn on the news. One of my cousins is also alright... he works in the State Department, and there was no bombing there apparently. Another cousin... her husband works in the Trade Center... he was on his way to work when it happened, so he too is alright, though they have yet to hear from his brother, who also worked in the building. Thank you to everyone who was concerned.

They have found ALL 4 cockpit voice recorder black boxes so they are hoping this will tell them some type of information they don't know now.

CNN reports that some passengers of the plane that crashed in shanksville, Pennsylania dialed 911 and reported a "hijack" before the plane crashed.

Dark have you read any of the last 3 threads? Everything you've asked and said has already been addressed. Just calm down there...go back and read...All of the info is pretty accurate to what you're hearing on the news...

This may be a regionally isolated event, but a source here has reported that gas stations will be closing tomorrow. There are long lines at the pumps... I'm not sure what the implications are of this - if there are any.

I was wondering if anyone else has similar reports?

Just heard a Rumor From - shanksville, Pennsylvania

I just heard from friend that, a flight controller in the shanksville airport was monitoring transmissions from the planes cockpit radio, and the flight controller says the pilot of the doomed plane is a Hero... and went on to say that the terrorists were unable to gain access to the cock pit area. and just as the pilot realized that they were about to blow the door to the cockpit and take control of the plane, the pilot took the plane into a dive to the ground in a field, before they reached their heavily populated destination....

Again this is still an unconfirmed rumor,
We will soon know if it's true from the recovered " Black Box recorder"
whether or not this is true or not, I just wanted to pass on what I heard......
