I've got this weird monitor problem...when I move my monitor (from place to place), it loses the blue color. After a few days, it's ok again (the blue color is back). Also, occasionally (when its not used for awhile), the blue goes away after no particular time limit, sometimes after a few minutes, sometimes after hours of use. WTH is going on? It's really fustrating when I'm in the middle of PS, and the blue goes away. Then I have to power everything down, and power-up, again. Also, it makes no difference when I just power the monitor down, the problem (the blue is gone) is still there, only when i shut down everything does it correct the problem. |

Sounds like your monitor's blue ink container has a leak. Better get that replaced. In the meantime, you can have some of my blue; i've got extra. |

WebShaman: I presume you've tried degaussing it? |

Yeah we had that problem where I work. One of the computers (G4) that the graphics people use. The red went out of his. It started doing that and then eventually the red never came back. We just had to replace it since it was cheaper than fixing it. |

Hmmm...that with the cable I must try. Don't have any other electronic equiptment near my computer, so I guess that rules that out. And should it 'belly' up - not so bad. It wasn't that expensive. thanks for all the input. |

WebShaman: DmS is describing a problem (I think) that is Degaussing related. The repairman brought with him various types of kit (including a hand held degausser?) and he thought the problem might have been caused by a pipe or a big piece of metal as he managed to eliminate eletrical interference. |

Ahh, never thought of that...have to check. How does one check what is in the wall, anyway? As for degausing, I know what it is, just don't have one. *sigh* Well, for now, everything seems to be going well. Thanks. |

WebShaman: Someone here must be a DIY expert or something. There are, I believe, devices which can detect these things so you don't put nails into vital conduits. There are also, I again believe, hand help degaussers. I'm not really sure this is the answer though (I prefer mobrul's explanation - as this kind of problem leads to more localised colour changes) but it would be one of the first things I try to eliminate. As this monitor has a degauss button that is easy to say (DUNK - I just degaussed it for fun). |
