Finally I have hit that point in my life where i can legally buy ciggarettes, get into strip club, and buy lottery tickets. I just turned 18! Yeehaaw!

(im so glad that i dont live in the US. heeheehee)

I remember being 18... graduated from high school, and begun my service in the army... a pretty good year.

Utahn's have to be 19 to smoke, 21 to drink, and don't have lotto's. There are people practicing polygamy in the state, although it is illegal. They are not Mormons. Utah is not over run with Mormons, but we do have a higher concentration that anywhere else. To buy pretty much anything other than beer (which by the way has less alcohol in it than everywhere else) you have to go to a State Liquor store. These stores do not stay open late, so plan ahead.

Now please take what I've said with a grain of salt (from the Great Salt Lake) because this is information to the best of my knowledge. I am 23, but I don't drink and have not actually been in a State Liquor Store. But at the same time, I'm not a shut-in, retarded, or a social reject. I would like to think that I know a little bit about the world.

Here is the problem:

Winter Olympics 2002. People from all over the world will be coming to a frozen Utah. People from France and Germany who don't share the same views on alcohol as Utah. There have been some disscusion about changing the alcohol laws during the games but I don't know of any decisions that may have been made.

I guess I don't really care too much about it though since I don't drink and I don't plan on going to see any of the games. I live 3.5 hours from SLC down south. I'm just not excited about the Olympics. I guess it is cool if it is your bag, it just isn't mine.

Back to matters at hand now...

Ciggarettes kill you. Strip clubs are expensive and don't leave you with anything meaningful. Chances are not in your favor with the lottery.

Take the money your Grandma gives you (unless she is the type to give you socks) and upgrade your computer.

Computer kills you much slower and less painfully. Computers are expensive but you are left with something tangible and can be very meaningful. Chances are you will enjoy your computer more with an upgrade.

If all else fails, get a huge chocolate cake and go nuts!

Skatefx: What are you still doing here? - its your 18th birthday for God sake so get outside and do all the things legally that you've been doing for years and then realise they aren't as exciting as you thought now they are legal (although the lottery is still fun!!).
