Whatever happen to this idea?
Is it still being considered?
What will happen to this idea?

I ask these questions BECAUSE .. speaking with a friend the other day .. he and his wife when GeoCaching for the first time .. me wondering what the hell that was .. asked and he simply pointed me to GeoCaching.com .. I lurked the sites and the whole time I was thinking .. this type of thing would work PERFECTLY with the Box idea we had some time back.

of course .. the Box idea wasn't about going on a treasure hunt to find the Box .. but passing it along from Asylumite to Asylumite .. now this Geo Caching site has a lot of good examples of HOW this Box system can work for us Asylumites .. we could stash the box in a hiding spot .. someone finds it .. takes it .. adds or takes something from the box but leaving a mark that they found it .. then they hide it again .. leaving clues as to were to find it .. in any case .. this MIGHT be the easiest way to get that box around the world and around the Asylum

To those that are setting this up .. I suggest read over the Geo Caching site .. mind you they use a GPS unit to find these boxes

Yeah, I've been GeoCaching for the past 6 months. It's a lot of fun. I would recommend anyone with a GPS tracker who dreamed of finding buried treasure as a child to look into it.

I was just checking this out, and was suprised to see that the very first one in my zip code was less than a mile from here, and right along my bike riding path. I ran down there and found it. Kinda cool!

This idea is not dead; I just have not had the time to start setting it up. Eventually, we are going to need to discuss putting together a Web site for it. That'll have to be functional before we start THE BOX on its way. I'll need plenty of help with it since I don't have the time to do the whole thing myself.

I kind of got the idea for THE BOX when I discovered Geocaching months ago. However, it is a different concept in that people are not trying to find it by themselves in a stationary spot (which is fun for people individually), but to pass the box around the world and to actually meet one another (which is fun for people both in small groups and for everyone watching it travel.)

I'm glad to see people still have THE BOX on the brain. I'll scrape together the time to create the documentation for the project (rules, outline for the site, etc.).

But not today. It's my birthday.

Thanks for all the well wishes. Not a terribly exciting birthday, to be honest. And my birthday dinner decided to stay with me for only a few hours. I awoke at 4:30 in the morning and it was all "abandon ship." And I hadn't even been drinking.

But, at 28, birthdays don't seem to mean much anymore, anyway, I guess.

Oh, and let's not forget Robert Urich died.

What were we talking about?
