Few people seem to be aware of this discussion, but we're considering adding new slimies to the Wiki, and also to the Asylum if Doc is up to adding the code.

Just letting you all know. If we don't get enough suggestions i don't think it's worth doing =)

4. :critiqe: i think thats how you spell it i dont know i cant read a portuguise keyboard, but the slimie should have a sort of thinking face, a hmmmmm sort of look, maybe stroking his chin, oh my god! a slimie with hands?

If there were a =) slimie, I'd disable slimies in all my posts. =)

I actually don't like using slimies. 'Cause, think about it... *everyone* uses them. But when you see *my* emoticon, you don't see what you see when everyone else uses a slimie, you see a unique smiley face. So it sort of lets my emotional icon stand out a tiny bit.

It looks best in comic sans ms, and unfortunately we're not using that here. But oh well.

Yah, I'd like to get these new slimies, I know my perl much better now than I did when I started this project. If anyone want to do a minor image tweak, I was thinking of adding one level higher than a "burning folder". I was thinking of an "exploding folder" for threads with more than 60 posts. Ideally it should burn->burn->boom!, then repeat. Any takers?

Well i guess i'll engage in this conversation seeing as the good name is being tossed around...

Just to be clear yet again on this fact.... I had specifically asked Slime if me atering the slimies was cool with him... Also, knowing that the ones i created would be used infrequently... it surely was no problem.

I don't think i ever posted all the ones i made... (mebbe a dozen in all)....a few animated ones thrown into the mix as well.
I had them all in a public folder on my old website.... but i took it down about a month and a half ago.... and at present, I belive i have them all in a folder on my desktop.... However... it'll be a while before my belongings catch up with me.. as i'm in the middle of an overseas move.
Perhaps i'll drop the link to the folder when i get it back online....... But to back up one of Slime's points..... slimies don't have hands.... and mine do.

I, personally.... could really care less if more slimies are implemented....
as long as we still have the "rolleyes" slimie... i'm content..... AND.. as long as we don't make =) the code for a slimie. I'm another person who likes the =) just the way it is.

I guess if i were to make another one.... it'd probably be something like...
the "InSiDeR is a complete fuckin' dipshit" slimie....... or something along those lines.

That's just my useless commentary on the subject...

I dont make slimies therefore i dont have much to show. I think more smilies should be made and Doc add that Toker Slimie.

Maybe we need a whackmichael slimie...wait a minute...that's also my first name...so forget I said that...

Just a note...

When I first made the suggestion (was it me who made the original suggestion? no... it wasn't, so forget that), I was thinking of much less silly slimies. Like, simple ones... the enlightenment one emps mentioned for instance, just some new expressions.

The thing is, the random slimies are funny, but they'd get pretty stupid if they were as easy to use as just saying :vampire: or whatnot. For instance; Mr Max's slimies with twirling eyes are funny, but they're sort of his thing, and they pop up in specific times (like when someone said something funny).

So, I think we shouldn't add any of the silly slimies, like ones with signs or geared towards very specific situations. Just some general ones that we can use in regular conversation. That way we can be sure we won't overdo it with the funny ones; those were always best as just occasional things that someone would throw together... to make fun of taxon (michael), for instance. =)

Oh, one more point: I use the word "slimies" only to make a pun with the word "smilies", as the UBB image-emoticons are called. The small slimes that we use for emoticons on this board are called "slimies". Everywhere else, the creatures are just called "slimes". Just keeping everyone clear on that point, so no one gets confused =)

How about a "chill out" slimie? I've seen that phrase used quite a bit recently. Maybe it could have a coat like Kenny from southpark.

I would very much like to have :vomit: and :doh: slimies at my disposal.

Oh I almost forgot! I think Mahjqa's issed: is too good to pass up.

I knew people would agree with my :doh!: slimie but we really need a mad scientist slimie, when I get to the states thats the first thing im gonna do, make some slimies!

They are after all emoticons a shorthand way of expressing an emotion and I'm not sure how the 'career' slimies fit in (at least in the suggestion for adding to the Asylum's basic set) so here are the ones I'm in favour of:

Ok, the idea came to me when sitting in the sand for about an hour...

We need a slimiekit.psd, where we have a blank slimie with the layers for mouths, eyes, hair, signs, thought-clouds, and such, so people can make there own slimies!!!!!

Yeah, I like that idea. Do a "Dress the Slimie" page. You could call it StorSlimie or something. Do a base Slime bigger than the ones here, some things to go with it, and I'm sure people will be willing to contribute various accessories and what-not.

What we need is a website like the pixel person website we all used for the yearbook, but this website is devoted to slimies!!!! Any volenteers? As soon as I get back to the states I will work on some slimie images and accessories.

The problem with the commando dude is that he uses his hands to fire that gun... slimies don't got any.

I like the Stor Slimies idea. You know StorTroopers are really meant to be purchased as an add on to message boards. For instance each person along with filling out your e-mail addy, web page, location, interests etc. also gets to make a custom "StorTrooper" avatar. A slimies package like this would be cool too.

Maybe I should get me head out of the clouds though. I dunno if Slime would be interested in sharing the pov source code for his slimies?

mm... I think you're all going overboard with this.
I wouldn't mind some sort of release of about 3 new slimies.... but much more than that would get kind of annoying. I very much enjoy the simplicity of Slime's creation...... an emoticon/image that hasn't been jaded by the evil 15 year olds of the internet.
And i won't disagree that it's fun to play around and have "special use" slimies..... for instance... Max's rolling eyes slimie.... or Mahalaawqaea's taxon beating slimie....
I'm more guilty of doing it than anyone else.... and i'm certainly guilty of acting many years younger than my age more often than i should.

I'd also like to take this chance to say that slimies break lines.... and personally... i find that annoying..... and i think, if at all possible..... IF more slimies are added..... the total number of slimies used in a post.. (presently eight, i think).... should be reduced to 5.... or something... There's sure to be a massive influx of their usage for a while.

And while it's pleasant to entertain the idea of a sort of StorSlimie thing....
simply speaking... i don't think it'd work as well as you think. (or at all, for that matter)

I'm with Michael on this - if people want to make their own special Slimies then they should feel free but we shouldn't go overboard with new ones. db and mahjqa have thrown in some good ones (some of which appear to be be 'keepers') but I'll requote Slime again:

They are, sort of, his babies so I think the final say and the creation of any more new ones should be up to him.

This shouldn't stop people coming up with special slimies as they have always been an interesting aspect of the Asylum and by not making them offical ones they won't get overused and so they'll stay special

InSiDeR: I can't see why. A slimie is 18x25ish - you can't add an awful lot to that. A simpler thing would be to offer a zip of a basic slimie and some accessories and people can use PS to put their's together (if they are so moved). I can't see that making something like stortroopers for slimies would be worth the effort - then again if you really want to then go and knock yourself out (I can't stop you ).

I think a better idea (it was one that was brought up a while ago) would be to have something like the stortroopers for generating pixel people for the yearbook - we could have a lot more fun with that!!
