what's the resolution and image size?

some kinkos actually do decent digital prints on high-end laser printers, but the paper and archivability and color calibration blow ssooo...

find someone with a high-end epson inkjet printer. make sure you print on good paper, i recommend epson heavy weight matte paper because it has a nice feel and look to it. if there's a university near you with any sort of art/design department they'll probably have a central printing service that you could have print your stuff or they'll at least have a nice epson printer sitting in a lab you can print off of.

if you want a really, really nice print then look up printers in the phone book and call around to see who has a giclee/iris printer and how much they charge to run prints. that's the nicest shit you'll run into and is somewhat reasonably priced if it's for something special enough.

I recently had several images done for my portfolio using a Fuji Crystal Pix, it's photographic process on which the image produced on photo paper, photoquailty, very nice color range, archive quaility, and relatively cheep. I paid around $15 US for a 8x10. I just provided my file as a 300 dpi RGB Tiff with an AdobeRGB profile. The images received were spot on for color and very nice. I have used www.procolor.com and www.linhoff.com but they are local for me. I have also seen Fuji Crystal Pix at National Cameras and some Wolf Camera's where they offer photo quality prints from digital cameras.

I was not thinking very far ahead when I made it... its about 5x6 inches at 300dpi. I gotta start painting bigger! my my...

Very Interesting. I will have to check into the community college.

On another note, I just found out that my grandmother wants to buy a HP color printer. You said "epson" 3 times in your post so I will assume that is your preference. Are you talking about High end printers though?

And, any thoughts on this?

Hey eyeman, send me the file and I'll try printing it off on my Canon. I've liked the quality I've gotten with it so far.

epson printer for the same price... never used this model before but if you look at the specs you'll see that is has epson's new approach of using 6 ink cartridges to cover cmyk (they have two different cyans and magentas for better results).

my experience has shown that you get the best results from desktop printers when you match inks and paper with your printer manufacturer... big emphasis on the paper, that's the most important part in the end.

take krets up on the offer. i'd have offered the same but our two main labs closed up last friday and won't reopen before i hit the road.

cheers!

[edit: ubb sucks]

[edit two: after almost being arrested by the cops i return to find out my link has died... mark my words though, epson has a printer on their web site for 199$ that i'd get before the hp]

Yep, that's what my Canon has, 6 different inks.

Catch me on Q or mail it to mail@krets.net

I talked to a guy at a bible study tonight... (his name is Bryce like the program ha!) anywhoo... He works at a photo printer lab place!

Thanks for the Offer Krets, but I got this done! 6 inks eh? I will definatly look into the epsons more.

Okay, next question... Do any of you have any thoughts about uploading digital photos to printing places and having them mail you your digital photographs?
