http://www.logo.nino.ru/ <------------ A very nice site where you can download logos for use in advertising and such ... with permission of the company, of course!

Also take a look at the authors page. Links to various companies that designed the logos. Interesting stuff!

Clicked on my link and it pulled up just fine for me. Anyone know what the problem for WS might be?

I see no problems with using the site. They have big disclaimers about use of the logos. Folks at my work pointed me to the site to download logos we were having trouble getting otherwise for some ads we do.

.ru is just the russian country code. Just because a lot of cracks come from there shouldn't mean the whole thing is bad!

There are loads of sites that do have a load of company logo's free to download. I don't know if it's legit though, but on the good side there great for research of logos and if you need a logo for CD cover that needs the user to have flash, quicktime, etc. Saying that most companies will give you the logo free of charge as it uses there product, but it would be advised to look up on there TOS of how companies logos are used.

Here is some I know of after looking up some ideas for logos for my final year project:-

Aero site - Full of airline logo's
Stock art logo's
Logo types

FWIW
I'm just going to share my knowledge here (in case it helps somebody).
My understanding is this:
If the logo is a registered trademark ( the (r) thing) or a trademark (the tm thing), then you need permission, from the company originating the mark, to use it.
I'm not a copyright or trademark pro, but my opinion, better safe then sorry.

I checked with my wife, who works in Intellectual Property law (patents, copyrights, trademarks, etc...) and she said the same thing. You need permission.

Yes, of course permission is needed. The site is valuable to me because local branches of many national companies have crappy versions of logos for me to use in their ads. This site is a goldmine of quality logos for me to use. No more scanning a third generation copy of something (in many if not all cases)! Yeeehaw!

Are they actually made by the companies themselves? There were multiple versions of Verizon... that's all I looked for though.

They actually have language all over the place similar to this:

WARNING! IT IS NOT A CLIPART!
All logos are trademarks of their respective owners, and are offered as a convenience for their lawful use only, with proper permission from the copyright or trademark holders.
Downloading files from this site does NOT give you authorization or permission to use the copyrighted logos without the specific consent of the copyright or trademark holder.
Before you use, reproduce or distribute in any manner any logo found on this site, you must first receive the express permission of the holder of the copyright or trademark of that logo. Failure to obtain such permission is a violation under international law.

ShootingStar: Yep!! you can't just use them with out permission.

bitdamaged: Yep they have all that type of text around, which makes you think why there is sites like this...hhhmmm.....

But over all I think it's good for one reason that BeeKay said about that local companies can't or will not give you or find you the EPS or AI file for you to work with, it's mostly a scan and trace, which in turn is time consuming and time is money in the business world. So if you have the permission from the owners for the use of there logo then I think it fine to download and use, which an added bonus of saving time.
