Could anyone tell me if those graphical tables are good or not, what's good or bad with them. As you can guess, I'm thinking of buying one but I thought of contacting someone more knowing of the tables before.

well, apart from the fact that a plural is never made with an apostrophe (ie. it should be graphic tablets),
they're awesome. And we get the question every 5 days around here... Anyhow, I bought my Wacom (generally viewed as the best brand for these thingies) in January, a cheap Graphire 2 (~99 USD), and I absolutly love it. Makes working with images so much easier... Buy one.

***Nods head furvently***

BUY ONE! (Especially at the insanely low prices the Wacom goes for)

They're far more intuitive than a mouse for making sweeping brush/pencil type strokes and the pressure sensitivity allows you to increase/decrease the thickness of a line mid-stroke which allows nice natural forms.

Don't try and use it instead of your mouse for other stuff though... sometimes, a mouse is all you need.

The Intuos tablets are better than the Graphire ones.... More presure levels, a higher input resolution, stylus tilt support and dat nifty lil toolbar accross the top.

But dem Graphire ones look more spiffy on da outside. - Just gones to show, can't judge a book by it's cover. Which is why I rip all the covers off mah books... errr.. heh.

Quick answers please.....

Grumble: HA HA.

Yea there great , but on another forum someone posted a pic of a "Become an instant artist with a Wacom for Dummies" book as a joke, which is true enough, a lot of people see them in amazement and think "wow , imagine what I could do with that" But basically for me anyway , but I think its true in general it slows down clicking around windows and icons, but it gives you the speed and freedom of a marker/airbrish/pen in PS. Which is great. It can also make textures and stuff that would take a lot of ps work to get.

The size you need depends on your screen resolution and wether you use your wrist or arm moreso for drawing.

why the intuos is cheaper?

well because its an INTUOS and not an INTUOS 2. so, kinda outdated. version 2 is actual and probably more expensive.

Just going back to the topic.
"Is it worth it ?"
Thats up to you , I got mine off ebay its an Intuos 12x12, it was ~$350 I dont know what that would be near US$400 these days I guess with the dolar being the same as the Euro now. I dont know what I'd be doing if I didnt have it, I'd probably stick to programming and pursue a career that way. So its been nearly priceless to me. If I had know how good it was going to be I'd have bought a new one for the ridiculous price they sell them at here in Ireland.

Doesn't everybody use their wrist for drawing until they learn that they shouldn't?

And after surfing abit I saw that the inutos has 1024 levels of pressure and the graphite2 has 512. But do you really need so many levels? I think when you use an such superb program as ps you can draw with youre mouse (2 levels). Wacom is convenient!

I feel sorry for you all out there who draw with your'e arm U R doomed to the curse of A3.
