Having worked for my company for one year, it is time for me to renegotiate my salary.
I wonder if anyone has any experience with www.salary.com and using their estimates as a negotiating tool.
Are the ranges they estimate for jobs in the web industry usually reliable, or are they generally too low/high?

thank you.

he most likely fixed the link.
MS's or Psy's in their respective forums can edit other people's messages... but of course... the "edited by" tag is always thrown on there.

We looked at here at work(caused a flurry of checks and then laughs here in Augusta). It looks like it gets more accurate the closer you get to large metro area. The salaries for Augusta were quite off.

It looks a little high for my area. However that being said, I'd bet that in my area there are many people who have had their jobs for a year or two are being paid much higher than those who are now coming in at the same position. It's just a result of the current economic climate. People who got hired in web development were at a premium 2 years ago and could get top dollar where as now it's so much harder to find work that employers are paying much less for the same (or more even) talent.

Anyway I bet the econimic downturn and the state of the job market have skewed these numbers considerably as to what people are getting paid and what new hires are getting offered
