I love all the ones up to And Justice for all. I'm not a straight hater of the black album like some old school fans because I think Justice was as far as they could go with the sound they had.
But just to add one all time fav

Since when does loving the most innovative metal band make you arrogant and asinine? I really want to hear this.
Izzy: There isn't any real reason why you should listen to them. I like them, I like their music. Some of it is a little stupid and a little too "thrash" and by that I mean just playing power chords w/ no real rhythm. But some songs like Fade to Black and For Whom the Bell Tolls, have real well written/performed music. Some people say they sold out but really, the people that say that are the people that listen to music that they don't like to get in to a social group. It's like people that say, "we will never go to a corporate label because we aren't going to sell out to our fans." I mean as long as you are doing what you want to do, not because you are payed to do it, than there isn't anything wrong with it. I mean if you really dislike Pepsi, and Pepsi pays you millions to do a commercial and you do it for the millions, then thats a little somewhat of a "sell-out." One of my friends told me that any band that is on MTV is a sellout. I almost had a heart attack! That has to be one of the most ignorant comments about music I've heard in years...
Ok anyway izzy... If you like their music sure listen too it! I like it, its great, I play it on my guitar. I did a cover of "Sad but True," with my band for our school in 7'th grade. If you don't like it no one is forcing you to listen to it . Ermz, I am trying to say... There isn't any reason to listen to them, except for the reason of liking them.
If for some reason you do decide to download a few of their songs...
I recomend:
Seek and Destroy
Ride the Lightning
For Whom the Bell Tolls
Fade to Black
EscapeAnd
Justice for All
Eye Of the Beholder
One
Enter Sandman
Sad But True
Wherever I May Roam
But just remember, my favorite band which has been and probably always will be, is TOOL.

Correct me if I'm wrong but would it not have been easier to say:
Izz: Why should you? Maybe cause you haven't yet? If ya like em then good for you, if not then stop listening.
See, one line. Just one. Well, mebby two if ya using a fish bowl for a monitor ~looks in Petskull's direction~ he he.
What's the point of you saying all you did? What did it prove appart from how you strive to make some meaningfull statment about nothing with almost every post?...

quote: playing power chords w/ no real rhythm
There isn't one song that Metallica does (or any other band that I'm aware of) that has "no real rhythm". There will always be a rhythm regardless.
quote: people say they sold out but really, the people that say that are the people that listen to music that they don't like to get in to a social group.
Why the hell would someone listen to something that they don't like? Really? Metallica did sell out. Not as much as some bands but they did. What the hell was that album "Loaded" about? A remake of "Turn the Page"??? come on! If that isn't selling out, I don't know what is. Stick to the genre! If you want to change that's fine, nothing wrong with change. But that is a little much.

Yea, they sold out. They turned into the people they used to write songs about.
The older stuff is awesome. Creative, hard, fast, well detailed, and actually said something. The last 4 or 5 albums sucked. And there is NO reason for a band with that much talent to do a cover album.
Except as a sell out.

InSider I Was gonna back you up a bit here but I have to take exception with the "no real rhythm" comment.
Metallica and in fact James Hetfields rhythm guitar work is legendarily tight, his ability to hold time at that speed is absolutely amazing. Taken from a musicians standpoint what makes Metallica Metallica is their rhythm.

Metallica has not sold out. The way i see it is that hetfield is older than he used to be, so natrually he cant sing like he used to. The Load sessions were ok and softer. All i ask is when those who diss Metallica, when you have 9 albums out and they all did pretty good, then you can critize Metallica for being sellouts. But until that time stop with the sellout stuff.
