Hello,
Here in the states (Phoenix, AZ), I'd like to develop my film to a digital format. Does anyone know who does this sort of thing?

Karl: I'm not clear what you mean but a number of photoprocessing companies will give you the option of putting the pictures onto a CD for you (I'm pretty sure Kodak do).

I know Target /Marhal feilds Stores provide digital service in stores here. They do a very nice job is was most impress. Look for any lab providing Kodak "Photo CD" beter quality is "PhotoCD Pro" but it is about $2-4 per shot its a bit pricey.

Look around, Karl. $2-$4 per photo in my experience is not typical. As far as I know, it's usually only a few dollars to get the PhotoCD. Look for a box to check on your developing envelope.
And, as always, shop around. I've seen places that will throw in the CD with the developing.

The lab I use does two types of scans, Granted the price is a bit high, but you pay for quailty and color control. Cheaper then drum scan which range from 1k for $10 to $250 for 15k files.
PhotoCD Master Scans 3k pixels, 18meg file, are $2.50 for single shots
Pro Photo CD 6k Pixels 72meg file are $23.00 per shot
There are discounts for full roll processing, $20.00 total for 24 exp. as master scan.
Target stores is doing 24exp for about $12.00, I do not know if they are are using PhotoCD or some other system the ones I have see are about 3k/18 meg scans. My guess is they are PhotoCD as most of there lab equipment is kodak.
I would just make sure it is the PhotoCD process, I had a local lab produce a CD for me and I received back some hookie flatbed scans, that look like they were done on a cheep flatbed that were compleatly unuseable. I tried to go cheep, but you get what you pay for.
I realy perfer to just shoot, and then have them printed normal and scan the print, If I need more data I just have the shot enlarged photographicly to 8X10 and scan it. Reflective scanner quality is realy good these days and a cheap Epson scanner will do as good a job as a PhotoCD master scan. Worth the envestment if you plan on doing more then about 20 rolls.

I have the same problem.
While in Brazil, I was able to develop a 36-shots film for just US$ 6.50, including the photos on photo-paper (10x15cm) and the photos scanned into a CD, with index for the photos in paper and index for the photos in CD.
Here in USA, I have found some places that do the same thing but charges around US$ 25.
I can't afford that !!
Then, I searched a little further and found CVS. CVS has a machine that develops films and DOESN'T give you back the negatives, only the photos and/or the CD.
I want only the CD, anyway. So, it'll cost me around US$5 for a 36-shots film.
If you want the photos on paper (9x13cm), then it's US$ 0.35 per photo.
I just don't know about the quality since I haven't tested it yet.
So, try CVS stores.

Digital SLR is still too expensive.
I have a Canon EOS 30. If I want to go digital keeping the same quality, I'd have to expend at least US$ 1,000 (probably a lot more).
With US$ 1,000+ I can shoot and develop more than 5,000 photos (just on CD, all costs included).
I will need around 5 to 10 years to shoot such an amount of photos.
So, I'd better stick to my current camera.

Just across the street, WallMart.
For $4.95 a roll of 24 I get the typical 4X6
For an additional ¢.97 I get digital images ready for download off the net! (On Friday, I will share these downloads with the asylum).
*crossing my fingers, hoping the quality is good enough for the web*

Well, update report.
I have just developed my first film in USA. A 36-shot film.
I went to a CVS store and there it was that big new machine. I just put the film inside it and waited 10 minutes. After this time, it started burning a CD. Now, I have a CD with all the pictures, three resolutions (low, medium and high), no paper (I didn't want the photos printed in paper now), total price of US$ 5: with a coupon I got inside the CD media was free and I also got a free new 24-pictures fresh film.
That's amazing.
