I've obviously had a chance to have an extensive play with the GN RW setup (as well as the PSPong one to a lesser degree) and I have been very impressed with everything.
Pugzly: I still think you need a page detailling your current hosting packages so we can point people in that direction if they are interested.

Grumble - on the email accounts, it's truly unlimited.

Jhezz, that's pretty better than my actual hosting!
I pay around 120? monthly! (rate: 1?=1$)
Is that one only payment?
Is there a page where I can creditcardpay it?
What if I don't have credit card and live in Europe (Spain)? actually, i DON'T have credit card.
Bank Transfer?
I would really like to change hosting in the next couple of month (mabbe 3 months).

Okay - hopefully I can answer all questions.....
Payment is in U.S. funds, and we can take check, cash, postal money order, and even PayPal. We're not currently set up for credit card processing (unless someone wants to set me up for that..... )
Domain registration is $35.00 per year, since we use Verisign. If you'd like to register with someone else, you're more than welcome.
Hosting begins the same day we receive funds (usually within an hour or so).

How about subdomains?
And, is there a limit on the number of DB's?
And how do you handle adding additional storage space?
I currently can't get subdomains without paying extra, and can only have one DB.
Have to say though, that is a good deal any way you look at it. =)

hehe, bet you didn't think that this would draw up this many questions.
I like keeping this here and not via email, that way maybe we could archive it or put it in the Wiki (if not there already)
<question>
Since you use Verisign, what about SSL? Is that an option. I have someone that I am going to be working with soon that will need SSL.
</question>
Thanks for all the info. Like DL said, anyway you slice it, it is a good deal.

Is that fee "per-domain" or per-account? For instance, say I had 4 or 5 domains, all under 50mb of storage space. Could they all be part of the same account that costs $45 a year as long as they are using under 5gb of transfer altogether.
What OS are you running? Thank you.

Whats your policy on things like disk space and bandwidth? What happens if, one month, I transfer 5.1 GB? Or if I use my 50MB site to transfer a 60MB file to a friend real fast? Is the rule enforced by a script, or by "hey we noticed you're using twice your allocated bandwidth recently, want to upgrade?"

Okay, let's see if I can answer these......
For the 50MB package, you get 5 DBs.
No subdomains, since our Plesk package doesn't have a way of piggybacking subdomains to a parent domain account (if that makes sense).
Additional space is 7.5 cents per MB per month. Upgrades are seamless, and can are done on-the-fly when customers request them.
The cost is PER ACCOUNT. You can tie as many domains as you want to that same account, but they all point to the same place. So, if you have two domains that go to the same site, you're all set.
Violations are handled each day, with a notice being sent to the account holder to either remain within the limits of the account, or upgrade.
I think everyone here that currently hosts with us can say that we are VERY flexible. If you need to send a file to someone quickly, it's not a big deal. Also, the 5.1GB issue really isn't a big deal either, as long as it doesn't happen continuously.
SSL shouldn't be a problem. We prefer that customers register their own domain, but we can do it.

I should also add that I'm looking for someone to do a PHP web fetching script for me. I'm willing to swap hosting for the work. Here is what I need done:
There is a public database that spits out info based on a zip code input. I need to fetch that data, strip the header & footer and some light tags, and feed the results it into an array. Then, I can take the array and manipulate it any which way.
Anyone interested in 200MB of space for a year? You must be willing to support the script, but I don't think it's too terribly complicated. Contact me offline if your interested.

Please don't think I'm cheap cheap CHEAP! <lol> But what are the possibilities of a "bulk buy?"
Let's say there are a 20 - 30 or so of us here... just kinda 'thinkin' about it.... and more over at GN... just kinda thinkin' about it....and then you maybe sweeten the pot just bit if by a certain date 20 or 30 of us commit and send in the funds... bla bla... The "Asylum Special" if you will. It could almost be a 'standing offer'... any time 10 or more inmates get together the price is... XXX. Just a thought. Don't hit me ok... I bruise easily. <lol>

5 DB's sounds good.
No subdomains is a bummer, but not a huge issue. I don't understand how subdomains work, so no that doesn't make sense =D But I'll read up so I get the idea...
I imagine I will be contacting you sometime in the future on this.
Thanks for the info!

The way that Plesk works is that a subdomain or canonical domain, is treated as a separate domain. Thus, we pay for another Plesk license. Also, unless you really hack Plesk, it points to a different directory, so you have two different accounts.
If someone REALLY wanted to buy a bunch of domains, I could create a reseller account, but you'd be looking at a much higher rate. Something in the neighborhood of $100 per month or more. You'd get the ability to have many domains, more bandwidth, etc.

I currently have hosting that claims 99% uptime but I seem to get like maybe 60% uptime at best due to their numerous DOS attacks and overall ignorance, and well that just isn't working for me anymore.
They say things are going to change for the better soon, but if they don't I think I may be interested in this soon...
Did you ever get an info page up about this? I would have to pay with a US Postal Money Order, as I'm not into sending cash and I don't use credit cards.
Can you email me the mailing address to send payment to? Feel free to send any other relevant info while you?re at it Postmaster@xtrea.com
