324 fighters were killed in 19833 (you earned 64800 reputation points)
676 fighters were killed in 19833 (you earned 135200 reputation points)

I'd appreciate some backup as I can't keep replacing #6 starbases and a thousand fighters. If the rest of team OZN could spread out and reinforce the general area - I can give them co-ordinates of planet/depots to take over.

Woohooooooo, I got a 3-D map of one of the galaxies (well, a representation of one of them at least... I didn't want to spend all day putting in the coordinates of 1000+ sectors , I'm gonna start working on automating it before too long).

I only have the ring type right now, but hey, I'm pretty proud of myself for getting that much
Warning: You need a VRML viewer to see the .wrl file,
Warning2: The only screenshot I have up right now is a whoping 185kb,
So, if one or neither of those phase you, here's the link: http://courses.cslab.utpb.edu/practice/SST/SST.html

For you others, I'll have a much smaller image up before long. (Anyone here ever do any work in VRML? This is my first and have a question or two...)

Hmm, judging from Emps last several posts, I think I oughta spend some time building up some forces before I get too involved in the maps

[edit: BTW, I highly reccomend getting the VRLM viewer, that thing is sweet]

LF: technically they aren't close as they are 'downstrem' of 17142 and we need the upstream area fortified so

17142 is connected to from the following (and the systems upstream from them are in brackets - the ones that currently have planets and depots are marked with *, nebulas with x):

25095
22056 (16365, 26620*, 28873, 21638)
20752 (27513*, 26311x)
17654 (26884*, 31804)
29556 (22873, 23203*, 29816*)
19883 (29760, 23739*, 30478, 29185*)

All of the closest upstream entries have planets, depots and starbases (depending on whether someone has kicked my ass or not) and so does 26884 but the others are open for people to move in (I think). I will be shoving more planets and depots in towards this and I encourage other people to do the same (find a planet and plot the course to 17142, then travel down that path and check if it is clear and then move the goodies down - a tad tortuous but it should really make things a lot better for us in the long run ).

Downstream planets and depots are good for extra trading but make no difference here as connections are one way so getting back to 17142 involves quite a looping journey

[edit: I haven't updated the FAQ as things are being pushed around a lot]

[edit2: Well I see that all 5 downstream sectors have a planet, depot and #6 starbase but this is only going to catch anyone leaving 17142 - where I've been hammered are in the 6 upstream areas where it could leave a path open in to the middle]

Emps: Yea, I've been thinking about how to map out our galaxy, but I still haven't been able to find any logical pattern in the sectors or links... It would look incredibly chaotic any way I've thought about trying it so far... If anyone has any suggestions (any at all), please let me know... I've thought about a huge cube, but 16000 isn't a nice cube, so possibly 32 x 25 x 20, but even then I don't think the sectors line up nicely (and if it did someway like that, you'd think they would have a type of galaxy for 'Not-Quite-Cubes'...)

Suho: I can't remember where I saw that, but I'm sure it's one of the settings that can change every game... So I may have seen something for a previous game.

About killing Minion+0's, it would probably suffice to post a grafitti message pointing to a blackhole, and deploy a few hundred fighters there as incentive. Then keep track of the name, and if you see them later (still in our galaxy) have at 'em.

I think we (especially you LF !! - you'll know why in a second) should hold off killing anything with less than 1000 fighters. If they're part of another clan, or if they're wanted for killing some of our stuff, then I can understand, but I have no ambition to rebuild my 4 or 5 ships that mistakenly ran into Ozone1 and Ozone2 before they built any fighters, or before I put them in the faq. (and for the next couple days any member of team [FRA] better watch out for my big ships, they might be a little mad - just kidding of course, but stop killing things that don't pose a threat to you, even if they are in the galaxy, we definately need either a 1000 fighter, or maybe even 2500 fighter rule before we kill sleeping ships.)

Yea, that sounds like a good idea... I've been trying to only kill bigger ships in our galaxies (I figured if they were already that high in the standings and they were with us, they'd be on a team of ours by then), but I can see the reasons for waiting... Also, any other ships anyone makes, let's get them listed in the FAQ fairly quick, because it seems from a few of these posts no one is really safe

BTW, Dan, I eased up on the killing... Sorry about your ships though.
If it's any consolation, I just got hit by some friendly fire as well...

Dan: Sounds reasonable - its no fun anyway

I would suggest that things are going to start heating up and we are probably going to need all the fighters we have so I would suggest people refrain from killing anything unless it is a threat or it is on someone's wanted list. We could quite easily end up with an awful lot of people trying to wipe us off the map before things really get moving.

I would recommend finding some way to warm people off before smighting them

[edit: And it sounds like Dufty has his starbase set to attack and we really need to keep them set to defense]

I still think that leaving a grafitti message pointing out a black hole + a few hundred fighters left in the sector with a Minion+0 (or any other lower level ship) would be a place to start, as opposed to just killing them. That is unless they are a big enough threat. Yes? No?

OK team FRA are grouping around 158671 and so here is my early mapping the first column show the entry points to that sector and then entries to them are in brackets (ones with bases are n bold ones with nebulas have an x, a depot is D and a planet is P

157675 DP (156809 DP, 159129 Dx)
156316 DP (157932 DP)
157310 DP (158167 DP, 158340, 157199))
156741 DP (156655 DP, 158582 DP)

Silence you might want to think about reinforcing 158167 - I dropped a planet in there for you but a #2 starbase is asking for bother.

I have quite a long chain into 17142 here:

159726 DP -> 158356 DP -> 156053 D -> 158516 DP -> 159129 Dx-> 157675 DP -> 158671 DP

Hope that helps - I'll transfer it over to the FAQ (or someone else can as I'm a bit pushed for time) so people can tweak it and add to it as they map the area out. Remember this is also a one way galaxy so the downstream planets are only the ones you exit to so to secure the area you need to reinforce the upstream sectors and the ones which link in to them
