Well im in a little dilema. I know there are a lot of comp guys out there (not geeks)
who could help me with this. Ok well i have two dell comps one is ME and one is Windows 98. I need to know how to network the two with a cable modem. Me not being a comuter genious is totally clueless. So I would really apprectiate some help. Thanks.

Get a dsl router which can be found here: http://www.linksys.com/products/product.asp?prid=20&grid=5

All you have to do is plug in the win boxes and configure the router and you're all set.

Ditto. I have one and it's oh so easy. Plus, you get a built-in firewall.

TOO EXPENSIVE and not as easy as you think to set up!!!

I'm running a similar setup but fortunately I have windows 2000 which is way more stable but that shouldn't make any difference for setting up this program.

Here is a link to a program called proxy by AnalogX.

All you need is two network cards in the computer with the cable hook up and one network card in the other computer. REALLY CHEAP. Install PROXY and run it all the time. Do a "winipconfig" from the windows "Start", "Run" and see what the IP address is for the computer that doesn't have the Cable connection. Input that number into the "Proxy Binding" area. (Should start with 169.XXX.XXX.XXX or something similar) There is a full walk through read me file if you run into any problems or feel free to post here again and I will help out as much as I can....

PS get ZONEALARM FIREWALL it's one of the best and it's totally FREE!!
