Okay, gentlemen, Skaarjj is back for a few weeks, so if we can get a game session going, that'll be terrific. He says he can only stay up until around 1000 GMT these days, so perhaps we can work something around that? Chime in: we've got a murder mystery to solve!

(WS, Tanaka didn't seem to show much enthusiasm for the detective work, so if you really want you can just have him hang out at the temple until he's needed, perhaps next session? You're encouraged to play, of course, I'm just saying that if this particular part isn't your style, I don't object if you sit it out.)

(Tikigod, although you weren't around for the beginning of Chapter 1, you're welcome to drop in at any point and we'll just pencil you into the storyline. The sooner the better, naturally.)

nonono....I can stay up untill about 1100 GMT...I have to finish by that time though. SO if we can start early it'd be great.

It's been so long since we played (or at least it seems like it) that I've forgotten what GMT is... OK, let me think... right, I'm GMT +0900... which would make that a finish time of 2000 for me. Well, I'll have to check out this coming weekend, but I think I should be free. If I am I wouldn't have a problem starting at around 0700 and finishing at 1100. I'll have to get back to you guys on that, though.

Looks nifty, but I think we're all just getting the hang of OpenRPG. If someone wants to download it and give it a shot, though, I wouldn't object. At the very least it looks prettier than OpenRPG. I didn't get a chance to look through everything yet, though.

As for this weekend, it looks like I'm cool... any reasonable time on Saturday for me is good. Let's get the ball rolling again!

not suggesting you try webrpg.. the survey page has a list of questions and answers ...

e.g. 20 Signs That Your GM Is Out to Get You
He curses every time you make your saving throw (with a -10 penalty).
He foams from his mouth every time you remind him that you killed Bob, his favorite NPC.
The town where you are staying is hosting a convention of all your archnemeses.
Every time you go to the bathroom, you return to find glue on the "20" side of your d20.
The party is teleported to a desert planet inhabited only by dwarves, and you're an elven ranger.
Suddenly all the buxom barmaids have been replaced by fat, grouchy bartenders.
All your enemies are armed with vorpal swords, high-powered Gatling lasers -- or both.
"Oh dear, I think I lost your character sheet."

Coolness! As long as it works for Suho and WS, perhaps a starting time of 0700 and ending 1100? I should warn you that we're still in the middle of a murder investigation where only Skaarjj's character really knows exactly what's going on...

...I just had a thought, and Skaarjj okayed it: how about he and I play one more one-on-one session before this weekend, where his character does one more day of investigation while Morgan and Tanaka each do their own thing? This would put Dannyl in a position where he really needs the support of the other characters (right now, he doesn't quite) -- and so our weekend session could start off briskly. Dannyl would come in with a specific need, and the entire party could work together to fulfill it.

So we'd still be playing this weekend, it just means that Tanaka and Morgan would relax for a day before the action starts.

0700? So that would be... um, hold on... let me go check...

Ah, yes 1600 for me (I am so dense today). Yup, that sounds perfect.

Oh, and does "doing my own thing" include getting funky with the ladies? Just curious.

I also just remembered that we were going to use all that time while Skaarjj was away to get me settled into my character. So much for that.

No reason not to; depends on whether you're free at the same time, say, day after this one? Next time 0700ish rolls around, I'll be playing with Skaarjj; then next time after THAT, we could play you just sort of bopping around town, meeting the people, engaging in a few minor incidents. Could be fun.

edit: Doh, you're entirely right -- I was going to send you some more information. Well, I'll do that today.

Cool, so we're on. Unfortunately, I don't think I'll be free before our session... I have a ton of work to do, and I just wasted the past hour or so working on my stupid fortune cookie sig, so now I have to work even harder. You would think I would have a grip on things by now, wouldn't you? *sigh*

I'd best get back to work. If things go smashingly well, I'll drop you a line.

Okay, so Tikigod was able to visit, but couldn't really stick around, and WS was unfortunately absent, but this worked out fairly well for the story -- it gave Dannyl some time to finish up his investigations. Now he really needs the support of the rest of the gang in order to get the last few clues.

Dannyl's prologue has become inextricably interwoven with Chapter 1 -- I'm afraid that in the final analysis, the entire team is only going to be together for the climactic day or two of the chapter. If we're really lucky, though, we can get everyone together for the subsequent ones?

So, when can we play next? I'm expecting one normal-length session to be enough to finish Chapter 1, assuming everything goes according to plan. I'm sorry I haven't really been able to get WS and Tikigod on board so far -- I'm hoping that this part, and Chapter 2, will give you a chance to integrate with the party a little.

Well, I will definitely not be around this coming weekend, and the following weekend I'll most likely be going down to visit the in-laws. This doesn't necessarily mean I can't play (although in the past it did)--my wife has suggested that I just install OpenRPG on the computer there, so that way I can play and she can spend time with her parents. So, if it looks like everyone can get together next weekend, I might give that a shot.

I don't think I've seen WS posting lately, so he might just be having computer or connection problems. Giving him the next two weeks to recover is probably a good idea. Tikigod, Skaarjj, do you think we can play weekend after next?

There are certain planned events which will require one character or another to be in attendance. For instance, Itto will be needed for Chapter 3, Morgan will be needed for Chapter 4, and Morgan, Dannyl, and Cortes will all be needed in Chapter 5. (When I say "needed," I mean that their personal storylines will be affected by the events of those chapters.)

But the campaign does not have an overall plot other than that created by the interaction of each character's personal goals and dramas. Chapters 1 through 6 use a convenient plot device: Noble Mercury is grooming promising heroes to serve his interests. However, after that point, you'll all be on your own -- and that's when character interaction and team-building will pay off in rich plot leads. If you've all been adventuring together, and (to an extent, at least) sharing your personal goals, it'll be easy to say "Well, Morgan has such-and-such a take on events, and his plans sound good to me, so let's do that."

If we end up playing a lot of sessions without a full party roster, it won't be impossible to go on; it just means that the game as a whole will be less full of life and depth.

Not a problem -- since we didn't have a full combat roster, Dannyl delayed a raid he was planning and did more investigating instead. As a result, his hunch that he should raid the mysterious "Site C" has been confirmed, plus he has a bit better idea of what he's looking for.

This weekend is out -- right Suho? But if Tikigod and Skaarjj are up for it, we could just leave Suho out of that weekend's proceedings and go ahead with just three. Then the weekend after that, even if WS has his daughter again, we could play with Skaarjj, Suho, and Tikigod, perhaps. I don't know, I'm open to suggestions.
