Okay, I'm trying to make a site for my band, but I have NO idea what to do. Could someone take me through ALL of the steps for what I have to do to make a good site? I also want it to be free and I want my own domain name. And one more thing, if I already have a template from a site picked out, can I use it with other web designing/hosting site things?

If you have no idea what to do, why would you even try to make a site in first place?

nothing in life is free, you get what you pay for...you want it to be free and done with your skill of level its going to be piece of shit...

its that simple....

here are steps:

Learn HTML...try Javascript or another language, if not try learning Dreamweaver..
Also learn how to use photoshop to design graphic...

this two things are going to take you years to learn before you can make a " good site". Cant do it?

pay someone else to do.

Get and read the book Web Pages That Suck. Do not scoff at the name, it is a serious book that will help you. It is well worth the money.

Well, minus the whole "free" part... HOSTBABY.COM is the best host out there for musicians... and "HOW TO BUILD A MUSIC WEB SITE THAT SELLS" is the best book out there for musicians who want to build websites... and the last time I checked when you join with HOSTBABY.COM you get a free download for "HOW TO BUILD A MUSIC WEB SITE THAT SELLS". They could have stopped doing that though, so you might want to double check if you change your mind about the "free" part. Peace.

I am pretty new to making webpages, I only started a couple of years ago.
And I didn't read any books or anything. I just put together a page, based
on a template, and then once my page was online, and rather horrible, I
came here and posted my site in the Site Reviews section, which is where I
really learned, and slowly adopted it, and now, if I may say, I think its turned
out pretty good.

Here is where it is talked about
----------------------------------
-First Try-
-CSS Added-

Maybe you could learn something just from seeing the comments people made, even
though the original look and feel of my once horrible website are no longer available.
