Alright, I know how to make different layers and how to show/hide them. For my new layout, which is comming along pretty good I want to know if its possible to make a layer fade in and out, sorta like what can be done in flash. Also, is this compatable with NN? I finished up making a really neat layout and i wanted to use layers to switch inbetween content but I want it to fade in ... |

Okie, any thoughts on how i can actually do this though? Doing it in Flash shouldnt be too hard but I would prefer not to do it using that. |

There is an IE alpha filter which I believe is what would perform this trick. I haven't used it and I can't find my CSS book so I am not sure the usage. |

Thanks Bit, let me know if you come across your CSS book. Ill check through a few of mine but the ones I have are a little old. Ill also checkout the Micorsoft website, they have some stuff about CSS there. If you guys figured it out let me know okie? I have the new layout ready to go, all I want to do is add this ... |

Yeah, IE supports partial transparency; I've played around with it once, but I forget how it's done. The info is *somewhere* on Microsoft's page, I forget exactly where, sorry! I might be able to remember how to make something partially transparent, but I can't remember how to animate the transparency. |

One thing, I doubt this is the case but if the layer is say, just text and is coming in over a block of color (one color or slight graidents) there is a way to fade this sort of thing in using a color fade. Basically you write a script that changes the font from the background color into the regular color hitting a few gradients in between. |

Is there a way to make the backgound of a layer transparent? |

The background for a layer defaults to transparent. Just don't set a background color or image. |
