Simple question with a simple (yet elusive!) answer....

How do you make a page bust out of a frame?

frame killer?
search in yahoo for that, and you will get myriad answers.
something like this should work:
if (window.top!=self) window.top.location = self.location
(never tried this, of course! )

I use
if (window != top) top.location.href = document.location;
on my pages. Works great!

I tried to solve your problem, but It almost crashed my puter because I couldn't get it to only open up once. it kept opening and opening new windows. If you want a script that will work when a link is clicked, I can do that. lemme know if that's what you want.

Close, but no cigar. Has it been a while or do you just not practice safe sex?

ok, I've got another...

can you put a form on a layer so you can hide it if you want to?

if so, can you put multiple forms on different layers on top of each other?

Yup, that should work. Just put the forms on the layer the same way you would with regular text...

<style type="text/css">
#myform {position:absolute; left:0; top:0;}
</style>

<div id="myform">
<form>
.
.
.
</form>
</div>

I know that, Slime...

...but I'm talking about the form's INPUT fields. Won't they show thru like when you put a layer over a form?

Petskull, form elements will always be showed above everything and there isn't much that you can do to change it...

Does setting the form's visibility to "hidden" not even work?

here's another question... do we need <BODY></BODY> tags at all?
can we just use style sheets for the background and stuff?

(shamlessly trying to get rid of tripod's banners....)

Heck, you don't even need <html> and </html> tags, the browser will figure it out. But put them there anyway, then you can say your pages are well-coded. OW! I'm typing with a paper cut on the tip of my middle finger...

what exactly is the style sheet function for the background?

The simplest form is

background: url(mybackground.jpg) #FFFFFF;

the url() contains the background image url, and then the background color can be put after that, just in case. Put that whole thing inside the BODY {} style sheet.

Interestingly, the background="" and bgcolor="" attributes of the body tag have actually been *deprecated* in HTML 4.0. You're not even supposed to use them. And yet, you have to, because NN doesn't seem to like the background thing, as far as I can tell.

getting back to the forms in layers question... you can also use absolute positioning to move the layer (and the contanied form) up and to the left off the visible screen. Then just slide the forms into place as needed.
