Preserved Topic: LAYERS, NN6, NN4, IE (Page 1 of 1)

I'm trying to make a site using css and between the margin, padding, border-color, border-style, and border-width tags I can't seem to get them to look the same on all 3 Browsers (NN6, NN4, and IE) So what do I do?

(Yes I am currently trying to write 3 diffrent types of pages for each browser (maybe I'm doing too much work, yes?))

Umm sometimes trying to make something look the same on all 3 is virtually impossible and you are better off just making it look ok on all 3.

I ran into this issue before on all 3 platforms and really had to do some hacking to get it to work, I can't remember the details but basically NN4 and the other browsers render the padding, width, and border elements differently (and in different orders of precedence I believe) got some sample code?

I think when I did this I just had my borders degrade so that they just didn't show in NN4, it wasn't perfect but allowed me to add borders without embedding tables for a very large site.

Depending on what you want to do the table cellspacing method is actually the easiest way perhaps to make this work cross platform, though not as elegant as doing it with css.

NN4's implementation of such box model properties is pretty bad, and not entirely worth worrying about.

However, you should be able to get it looking the same in Moz and IE. Tantek's Box Model Hack explains the workaround for IE 5's incorrect behavior. Note that a correct <!DOCTYPE> tag may be required for some browsers to work properly.
