okay, okay - don't run away from this thread... i have a reason for my window-dictatorship desires.

i'm rolling out a system via the web - hence i am allowed supreme power over what browser the user views my 'system' (read: webpage) with, and what they can see on the browser.

so... i have a few questions.

how can i maximise a user's window on login? i was thinking of window.opening from the login screen, and on their login screen, getting rid of the location bar (they shouldn't be able to edit this anyway), but, how can i widow.open a window the full screen size? i've managed to feed screen.availheight etc variables thru, but this just makes a BIG window, not a maximised one.

any other window control tips and tricks would be appreciated - and they are allowed to be netscape-unfriendly, i can specify IE 5.5 + for users!

thanks.

You can use "chromeless windows" to do this (they work in IE only). Simply open chromeless window with dimension of screen resolution and it will cover complete screen... For more information about "chromeless windows", take a look here: http://dhtmlnirvana.com/alchemy/frameless.htm

I don't think there's a way to regularly maximize it.

Could you force full screen mode in IE. Like when you hit F11?

We have done so.

there is a way to maximise the screen bigger than the screen itself if you get what i mean someone had a demo ages ago where on following a link a fake fatal error screen came up? that used a full size screen. sorry i don't have a copy of the demo and can't find it anywhere on the web!!

dude, porn site... good one. hrnpf hrnpf hrnpghf...
*takes a minute to calm down* *or two...*

anywho, I worked on that one 2 months ago. Tell me if you could use it. (sorry bitdamaged but aeh... it s to late, I already took control*harrharrharr*)

See, you could find out the resolution of the user surfing your "system" (<--did ya see those " ?)
then you know how many pixels he#s got on his screen.
But, I needed only a certain size. not full size neither a too small one. So I figured that it's easier to find out exactly how much space I need and then I'll open a new window which exactly has those measurements.
Isn#t this, my friend, th emost extraordinary sureality of slow thinking?
I am most depressed by realisation that TREpassing my visionary limits is exactly there where others begin...
*god dang it!*

If you need help for those 2 things, tell me... karsten4ril@gmx.net
