Preserved Topic: work from the new guy........good or bad? (Page 1 of 1)

I'm not real experienced in Photoshop. I've followed a few tutorials but wanted make my own effects. I played around last night with layer effects and came up with this. I stopped adding cause I like the simplicity with what I had. Any thoughts?

if you just started playing with photoshop, that's pretty cool. i never got into layers at first, instead i was more interested in making collages... i made some weird ass stuff actually. anyways, simple and i'd like to see some more.. good luck.

I have been using photoshop for awhile so I am rather familiar with the interface and the basics of it. I just always would use pre-made filters so I never made anything too unique. I just started trying to actually learn the program. I got a book on it about a week ago and have read through some tutorials.

I started the image out with a pretty cool picture of fire I found on a CD I have. I messed with the picture a little and happened to make it green. I thought it was awsome in green and kept playing till I ended up with this.

I'll make plenty more. I never know what I'll make either. I start with an idea and what I end up with is never anything like my idea.

I see the face!!! Freaky! It is like a dude in a ninja mask with glowing green eyes. Creepy.

Very nice piece of work. I like the almost green yellow color... it sorta plays with your eyes. The only thing that seems to take away from the image is the fading rectangular bottom. But that's just my opinion. Other than that, I like it a lot!

Very nice work by both Block and Optical Void. I think it would be cool if you motion blurred the background text and left the text ahead of the fire the way it was.
