Hi all....I am a first time poster and a long time reader. I have gotten a lot out of reading this site. Thanks.

I recently made myself a new wallpaper and I would like to get some opinions on it. Its nothing too special. But please rip it apart if ya like.

Thanks and I hope to talk to ya later.

welcome to the forum CarltonCig. Don't worry about the link thing, definitly not the first time it has happened, and not the last either I am sure. The wallpaper is pretty cool, I am more a fan of "tiling" wallpapers, but I have nothing against yours...

Hi CarltonCig, I too am new to all of this, only been doing it about 9 months, but I'm really enjoying it.

I like your wallpaper design, but for my tastes the blue is too much. (But what do I know I'm just a beginner)

Just a beginner . . . .

Wow, nice job on the wallpaper. I like the glass sphere, it looks good.

i like the wall paper--all of the elements adhere to the same, solid theme and sense of design. i'm always partial to blue colors and you've polished it up nice and purty.

good work, glad to have you here.

Yeah I read some Phong a while ago. But I didnt read it to learn anything specifically for this pic. I dont usually like doing things just like they are in tuts....It lacks imagination.

Crono! That seems uncalled for.. did I miss an arguement somewhere? What does it matter if he's gay or not? Are you gay?, is that some kind of bad pick up line?

I likes his wallpaper, myself. And I don't think Phong's tuts are gay. (He's actually where I learned from before I found this site).

Anyways, please go into more description of why you feel *whoever* is gay..

Nice style. Sort of a '50s theme kind of thing.
If you're planning on using it as a web background, you might want to 'bleach' it out, so the foreground elements will stand out.
Just dropping contrast and bumping brightness would work, but I prefer putting a pure white layer above the graphic, then dialing up the transparency until it looks right.

Not bad...I'm not a big fan of the color scheme, but it's still aesthetically pleasing. How long did you say you've been using photoshop? I hate to bring this point up, but it looks like you took 4-5 different phong and ozone tutorials and slapped them together...

Oh ya, welcome to the forum . Please don't take anything I say personal, I'm usually a harsh judge of work that is posted. :P

Thanks McBridge....

Ive been a piddler with PS for about 3 years. Ive been learning a lot more lately (Of all the ppl I know IRL who use PS I am the only one who can do stuff with Alpha Channels.....Sad)

I have read a lot of tutorials....but a lot of the things Phong has on his site I have been doing for a while...
