I made this for a future website design. It isn't finished, but the bulk of the work is done. Let me know what you think. http://babamba.tripod.com/main.jpg

I redid all the coloring. here is the new one. http://babamba.tripod.com/storm.jpg

labamba-- first thing that strikes me is the film/dust&scratches/texturized filter you ran on the entire interface... it's very distracting and ugly.

the white drop shadow you have around the actual interface looks fake, especially since it's dropping straight down.. i'd try giving it an angle and some distortion.

i'd finally like to see the brightish brown of the interface, a much darker color.. and the grey might work better as a dark green.

that's all i know, i'm not really sure what kind of interface you could use this in.

The white and black shadowing needs tobe lightening up alot. Like he says it looks alittle fake. Dont get discouraged by bad feedback, use it to make your work better.

My lord...what the hell did you do to it?
Try something with wood or marble, organic stuff...the web seems to be all slick mechanical interfaces with nice shiney metal and stuff that's been rusted to hell...something organic like wood or marble would be a breath of fresh air.

Great start, Babamba. Few ideas for further development, though.

Lose the outer bevel. They're just not professional looking. Inner bevels are just dandy, so long as they're not intrusive to the image. As it stands now, the bevels just draw your eye away from the content and into the bevel. Bevel bevel bevel. I'm overusing the word bevel. So, bevel.

I'm okay with the whole clouds thing, but lighten it up. It's waaaaay too bright. I'd say play with your brightness and contrast levels. If you want something dark, drop the contrast and the brightness. You want something a little lighter, beef up your brightness and a little kick to the contrast (Don't over-do it!) Otherwise, I'd say lose the clouds completely.

Next; I'm not sure if the font you want to us is the one that you've displayed (it might've just been the first one on your font list, like 1AAAAFONT.TTF or something), but it definately doesn't fit with the mood of the interface.

The scroll feature, it looks like, you're planning on installing is waaaay to large. Standard scrollbars on most people's machines are set to 16pixels wide, in total. Which means that 63 pixels (what it's at right now) is rather excessive. Drop that down, and you'll be much better off.

I guess until I see the next version, that's enough. But, again, let me reiterate, excellent start. I've always been a fan of floating center-oriented web pages. It's just such a clean idea. Go with it, my son.

I will putz around with it a lil later. The fonts are not what I will pe using. they were just lil notes. Back to photoshop I go.

I just noticed something with the existing site...none of the images for the tutorial show up. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's not good.

Good advice from Twitch, certainly. I'm thinking some kind of lighting effects or glare on the surface of the "marble" so it looks more like a flat, shiny surface (like the bevels make it look).
One positive thing - Blue and Green are the best color choices for anything. I guess it's just a phase for me and I'm sure it limits me terribly, but I am just soooo fond of blue and green and blue and green and blue and green....
