hi,
i am searching for help with rusty metal surfaces like the surface of the starcraft game for example. any good books, or links for this? tried alot, but what still is missing is the final thingy, if you know what i mean? <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/biggrin.gif">

Like in StarCraft eh...? Be way more specific, I played SC for like 3 years, and I have no idea what you're talking about.. Do you mean the space platform terrain? I'm pretty sure thats just grey.

With StarCraft I especially ment the interface surface of the battle.net, There you ave got this rusty metal design.

Yes, r@m for sure... His rust is far greater then the next rustiest rust I know..

About the battle.net interface. Use the lighting effect tutorials to make the 3d effects, and make it a dark grey color. Then, after you have it beveled, add a rust layer over top of it, set on overlay, or hard light, and adjust the opacity. Then run a lighting effects filter again, on the interface layer, not rust layer (might wanna back-up your layers here), not using any channels for 3d, but set the light to a medium orange color. Make it a very soft light, so it just higlights the rest of it, not brightens to much.

that rust rocks. the mouse over are really cool, but way to slow to load.
i would REAlly like to know how he does that rust now.

I feel hurt. And I meant the brightness of eyezaer's...it clashes more than anything I've ever done! And that's saying something.

and Skaarjj: that's rather interesting...looks a bit large compared to the other sigs...(Mine and Mikey's)...is that the rock tutorial from the Guru's Network? how did you get the...uh...not texture...but...uh...the kind of "crumply" look so it looks like the rock has like indentations in it....*just woke up, don't mind my rambles*

Just use lighting effects on a some rendered clouds for that rock texture.

Sloloem, Sloloem... you seem a little bitter, maybe...i dont think it clashes... i never intended to use this as a weapon, i said in one of the other strings that i never made that sig with the intention to use it as a sig... er... right... does anybody else see a demonic face in it? that is freakin me out. i didnt put it in there.. dang polar cords......thats not right... i want my teddy bear...

ah... man... Ok, OK... i get the point. although only Sloloem is telling me anyting negative about my sigs. i guess i will give in and try to make a nice pretty one that blends in... and i am not talking about the sig on this poast. and no more devil faces!

Well Skaarjj...it?s a real long story...but, here?s the gist of it....

r@m moved down to the South Coast of the UK just over 1 month ago, about 10 miles from my locale....
He?s been way busy on a site which should have gone online 1st Sept...unfortunately the client decided he wanted a totally different feel, despite agreeing all the original design drafts....so he?s working night and day on the new designs for launch around mid Sept....I should think Doc O and others have been down this road....
...anyways, when this is done, he has 5 projects in the pipeline (that I know of) so he?s gonna be way busy for a while....

Chill time....he thrashes the kids at Quake in the local internet cafe ...lol...and does a spot of fishing....

Oh and yes, he's looked in from time to time....just not posted.... <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Still didnt see much tutorials for rusty surfaces btw..
