Preserved Topic: See through glass with reflections? (Page 1 of 2)

How would one make maybe a bubble of glass, kinda like one of DG's sigs...the one with the 2 wireframes in it under what looks like a glass dome.

How can I get an effect similar to that? giving the impression of lighting but still keeping it see through?

that image isn't showing up for me...
and eye, try brightening up the text in your sig just a bit...maybe add some glow

One thing disturbs me and if i dont get it out I will pop. Soloem stop giving sig advise till you take the advise given to you on inproving yours. I like his a whole lot better than yours. I hate to be the bad guy here but, you give advise to everyone and dont take any yourself.

I dunno what the prob is... it worked last night and then it stoped. and now i got it to work... Sololoem, that is just a wire frame i was playing wit... when i shrunk it it messed it all up... ya otta make yours a little longer....

Don't worry, Mikey, I'm hurtin' just as bad as you are... because I have to agree with you. Sloloem does take the advice he's given, Nevex, if you bothered to look. He's come a long way. And he always shows every step of his progress. And even if he paid no heed to what others said... that doesn't mean he can't provide feedback of his own. Chill out.

BTW - I'm not exactly sure why you're worried about popping... this is like the third or fourth time you've basically told Sloloem off for giving sig advice. It's not like you're holding it in.

As I keep looking at Sloloem's new sig, I can say that it looks better and better each time I see it.

I think the reason that sloloem is getting crap is because he has made vast improvements on his work in a short amount of time.

People still think of sloloem as the guy with the shitty eye candy sig. They haven't had time to adjust to his improvements.

I think that he has potensial given some more time, give him a chance, and you may even learn something.

And I must also say that his advice for eye's sig was correct. He has a good eye, so it isn't wise to nock him, even if you do gain some measly amount of enjoyment out of morally badgering someone.

BTW - glad you like it, Eyezaer. I'm not as pleased with it as my old stretched flesh sig, but that one was just too big, and lost all the detail when I shrank it. No offense Nevex, but your sig isnt so hot for you to make comments either. I dont know how anyone can say Sloloem doesnt take anyones advice, search through the forum and see exactly how many sigs he has released and then had critiqued and came out with a new one based on them. I know you appologized but it pisses me off because Ive seen a few times where you've given him shit and you have no reason to give anyone shit.

Umm whatever, I said I was joking with the guy and you guys are straight out insulting me. There is nothing wrong with my sig besides the fact you cant see the original detail since I shrank it. I didnt know any one person owned a style. Who did I imitate? If your thinking weadah liek I heard earlier, then I thank you. Weadah is the king of sigs here. HS, I do like the smaller version very much. I saw it in another thread and meant to say something, but...well, I have no excuse.

I actually don't mind the larger version, HS...it was a good sig and the shrink really hurts the quality...

....finally got around to making one.....

OK, My advice for HS? Go with the original one, the big stretched skin; it rocked, and while maybe bigger than my taste, it really did was cool, I always liked seeing it.

Nevex, I like your sig too, but what can be done with the fine lines breaking up? Maybe you could try this, re-size it, and make two copies, multiplying one over the other. (Do you have a verion with layers, lines on one layer, background on another?) If so, set the top layer to multiply and then set the opacity to 10%, 20%, step up until your lines beef up a bit, experiment, you can make it cleaner. Also try running the "unsharp mask" filter on it, may help tiughten up the edges some. Derivative, someone did it first? Screw 'em, we all stand on the shoulders of giants.

Sloloem! You *have* come a long way. Your first sig kinda sucked, but you knew that, that's why you asked for advice. I've seen you come a long way since then, and expect you to go further. The current sig is fine, but I know you can do better in the future, and you *will* do better, I just know it! Gotta say, I'm impressed with the maturity in how how you've handled yourself these last few weeks; lots of folks have given you a hard time, but you're still here, and still contributing. Stick around, you have the potential to be really good.

Hmm, who else needs feedback? Phil, you have this little white edge on yours, bugs me some, maybe you should chop your canvas size down 2 pixels and cut it off? I dunno, maybe it needs a frame of some sort. Nevex, I don't know morse too well, but I like the shapes of the new sig, maybe some heavier rusty red colors would give it more punch? eyezaer, I really like the over-burned sig image, nice work there, those colors and contrasts make me happy.

I really do like this one best, it's starnge, compelling, kind of gross and kind of cool at the same time. The metal one lacked subtlety, (while still being cool, though.)

Sig is short for signature.
And good looking transperant gifs are hard to get. first off GIFs are limited to 256 colors I think. Anti-aliased things blurs are really the bane of transparent Gifs, blured edges often look....really.....bad.

A good way to get better look transperent gifs is to make your gif against the average color of the forum...the darker of the colors is 240000, I think.
Then when make your gif make the back layer filled with the average color of the forum nonvisible and that'll be your transparancy color.
set colors to the max availilble, set palette to perseptive or adaptive, no dither, lossy to 0%.
and I usually set my matte to the darker color, but a good idea would be to use the average color for your matte.
If this is horribly confusing I can try and write up a quick tut...maybe the Guru's Network would be interested in it as well.
