It could make an interesting artist interface for a more personal site. I however would make the light source for all the yellow / orange buttons the same (the top and bottom color buttons are different light sources, and all but the bottom right diagonal buttons are differentlight sources). I wouldn't mind if you would perhaps vary the texture (not the color) from button to button, rather than have all the buttons be the same texure as the large center.

I do like the image tho, I've always held a facination with chaos stars.

I like it, I truly do. It's a wonderful, wonderful thing.

But the lighting confuses me. What are those yellow balls made of that would make the lighting look like that? It looks as though cement balls were painted with orange splats of paint. *confused look* do I not get something here?

Otherwise, love it. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Simple, they're the styrofoam balls that we used to stick pins through in school and throw at each other.

Oh?...You guys never did that?....Never been mained you say?

Oh well then..nevermind.

I've got to agree with the lighting problems though vogon....the rest looks not too bad at all, but the "balls" look so extrememly fake that it throws off the look of the entire piece.

Or so I say...in my ever fervent way <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/wink.gif">

We never did that DG, but we did make paper stars with pins on the end, and as we got older we figured out how to make "guns" out of spring-type clothespins, and we'd shoot BB's at each other. As we became even older science class became much more fun also, and a little scarier. <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

Yeah..we eventually progressed to sharpened pencils, and hockey elastics...

By the time we got to play in chem lab, I was getting 90s in chem, and noone would worked with me anymore.

I swear...make one kid hold the phosphorus until the oil drips all away, and they never want to play anymore...

I also like it....but I also have a big problem with the mixed up lighting and a few "missing" shadows..... <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/biggrin.gif">

Looks cool. Just rotate your balls so the lighting is the correct way.

Ok, yeah, that was a great post. That would probably be a little painful.

I did that once when I taught a college physics lab. We were doing the Galileo inclined plane experiment and after I had introduced it I said.

"Any questions? OK, grab your balls and get started." <img border=0 align=absmiddle src="http://www.ozones.com/forum/smile.gif">

I don't know why you would want to do this (you did ask for suggestions of possible uses), but, once you get the light sources fixed, you could tile a surface with it. You know, have each of the small balls connected to a large ball on each side.
