Let me start off by saying that working in print resolutions (300-600 dpi) is extremely stressful at first, but quickly becomes quite familiar and satisfying. In fact, 300 DPI has become my default resolution for all my graphics now, simply because of this one project.

As far as the project is concerned, I was instructed to create an "interface" which would be representative of "computer networking" and communications while still staying in the style of their marketing materials, and using their existing logo. At the end of the day, I chose a look which harkens to the generic control panel/wire interface, but with hopefully some new flare. The piece had to be symmetrical, and it had to be a certain size (for the website, eventually, but first and foremost for a mailing list card/brochure graphic.

My question(s) to you are:

Does this inspire you to think of "networking" or communications?
Is there anything that particularly bothers you about the design?
Do the Keyboards bother you?
Would it look better in another color scheme? ( I can choose any duotone, or grayscale)
What would you do for mouseovers, were it to become an actual web interface?
Anything else you would add/subtract?

Ive been trying to get some general feedback around the office, but they are biased. I was hoping for some honest feedback from you guys here at Ozones

thanks,

and of course:

I think it looks great but that logo in the middle just doesn't fit somehow? Its the color of it. It just seems wrong to me.

Maybe if it were on a screen? Dunno

The rest of it looks great. Nice work.

Yeah, thats their logo. unfortunately I cant do much about it.. the only options I have are to change color and opacity of that center circle.

It looks really mirrored, and that does bug me. The colors are off with the logo, could you make the screens more grey to bring it together, or maybe make some of the cables more grey? Just something to bring it together more. Right now it's a great idea, but disjointed.

I have to agree about the logo in the middle... The color just seems way out of place. Any chance you could change the color of it to match the rest of the pretty blue stuff?

All in all, I think it looks great. Visually satisfying! As for mouseovers... I dunno what your intentions are for the elements of the interface... If the little computers are to be links, I'd think it would be cool to have an image relating to the link appear in the circle at center, replacing the company logo for as long as you are moused-over.

That´s a great design for me!! i will darken the background a little (maybe gray or dark brown?) and as Ikonomy says, don´t know your purposes for this, but i picture it without the up and down screens and leave it as a menu......

too sterile.... its not a bad graphic.. but the colurs do make it cold looking.. not sure if that is what you are trying for... the k/boards also even though symmetrical horizontally.. do look a bit strange cos they dont appear vertically....

I think possibly shrinking it and adding the vertical k/boards might work better for me...

how many links are there gonna be?

not too shabby...i actually like the cold look...at first impression i don't get too much of a networking/comms feel but it is kinda outta context...definitely make the logo in the center look as if it appears on a circular screen and take away the cable connectors on the far sides of the left and right monitors...

What background is it going on? It looks fuzzy right now.

Its going on white. its kinda fuzzy since the original is 2400 pixels wide.. I had to resize to an odd resoluition in order to get it on the web =\. I think removing the side connector is a good suggestion. I think ill also just darken the logo to direct black, since I cant do much else to it.

Love the graphic.

I DO have a problem with the middle graphic. Not the color of it, because it's the logo and should stand out a little. Is there any way you can make the logo feel more 3D? I can feel the wires and the screens and almost type away on the keyboards, but then the logo ruins the experience be being completely flat.

Someone mentioned that the graphic needs to be a little more asymetrical and I wholeheartedly agree.

Thats cause the original is 2400 pixels wide

Unfortunately I can't change the symmetry, nor can I change the logo (it will be solid black on solid white =\)

The good thing is that most of your complaints are based around the things that I was constrained by anyways. I guess thats a good sign!
